With the ship nearly deserted by it’s crew, most of them on leave and his days admin work complete, for now, Dante stepped out of the turbo-lift and onto Deck 10 where the ships personal holo-suites were found. For this, meeting, he knew he could have just turned on a console, but the unique circumstances here meant that he felt that at least he should do this somewhere that a proper meeting and discussion could take place. What that actually meant, he had no idea, and reading the reports of previous Captains concerning the matter did nothing to put his mind at ease about the level of access this, person, entity, AI, he had no idea what to call her, had on his ship. It was to the extent that he had little idea if it was actually his ship, or belonged to the ships Avatar. As he moved to the door of the holo-suite he had to grin despite himself. The thought of the ship dropping out of warp, shields, engines, phasers and replicators going offline because the AI was having an all-too-human like tantrum was kind of humorous, but in his mind an all-too-real possibility that his command codes wouldn’t be able to fix and he was never the best negotiator as Nat kept telling him.
Stepping through the doorway, Dante moved to the center of the room and looked about him, leaving it blank so that if she appeared, she could create whatever she wanted. Dante himself was in civilian wear, dark blue jeans and sweater top and dark chocolate high necked, open jacket. While he had been working on the ship and was technically off duty, he preferred to go incognito. “Computer” he began, then paused and started again. “Lieutenant Dalton. Are you here?”

“Always,” her clear voice sounded in the empty room.
The scene shifted and Dante found himself standing near a small hill in what appeared to be some sort of countryside. At the top of the hill, a lone figure was sitting with their back to him, gazing out over the scene below. Beyond the rolling hills of the semi-arid place, there was a bare hint of a sparkle of a body of water. Dressed in denim bottoms, a t-shirt and tall worn brown boots, she seemed to fit into the scenery quite naturally.
He looked around him at the scenery he could see, then up the small hill to where the figure sat in what could have been contemplation, or could just have easily been enjoying the sun from this distance. This environment he had to admit surprised him a little, and he realized that he had been expecting her to act as an AI and not the human that she had been. It was a subtle little reminder that whatever she now was, she still retained her human mind and with that, it seemed, memories and emotions perhaps. Without a word he began the short walk to her, letting himself enjoy the journey, scenery and sun. It didn’t take Dante long before he was standing not far from where she sat, hands in his jacket pockets and looking out over the same scenery she did.
Cori went back to her roots now and again- sometimes out of nostalgia and sometimes to understand how she got to where she was. She missed this view though, with its fields of crops (Regreein wheat, corn, green beans, olives and wine grapes), the orchard of citrus, and the paddock with their horses. The house and outbuildings were located off to the right, tucked against a smaller hill. her gaze lingered on the horses. The last time she had been on a horse was on the holodeck with Levi. After everything she hadn’t been able to get back on. That and she didn’t know anyone else who rode who’d want to spend time with her, especially in her current state.

He himself spent a moment looking over the scenery and smiling just softly at what he saw. He wasn’t in any hurry, and Dalton/SARAH would know he was looking out and taking everything in even though she wasn’t looking at him. Looking down at the woman he noted how she was dressed, and for the area they were in he saw similarities to what he was familiar with from his own homeland. Dante moved up beside her, took his hands out of his pocket and sat down beside the woman. He took a moment to pick away rocks and sticks from around him and move them aside, then leaned forwards and hooked his elbows over his knees, relaxed and facing the same way as her.
“For a moment, I thought we were where I came from” he said quietly. There was no need to be loud here, the place was too relaxing. “Just there” he said, pointing out the olive tree’s, “and there” he said, motioning to the wine grape orchard’s as well as the few other fields, “could pass as the countryside of Verona in Italy. It looks like this in high summer, although is generally a lot more green in the wetter months. It was almost like coming home” he reflected, picking at a small stone he had missed and tossing it a few feet aside, then looking up again and at Dalton.
“Similar climate,” she replied, still gazing outward. She of course had known the moment he entered the program, but there was no reason to rush anything or jump into a conversation until they were both ready. This is about twenty kilometres from Tananda Bay on Ajilon Prime.”
He noted that she looked very much exactly the same as her Starfleet profile picture, and immediately noticed the vivid hue of her eyes. She wasn’t an unattractive woman, or hadn’t been, he wasn’t sure how to phrase it in his mind. “Is this where you came from?” he asked her, then smiled in the direction of the horses. “they yours?”

Cori finally turned to gaze at him and she smiled. “Yep. Well, they belonged to my adoptive parents, but I was just a baby when they found me, so I grew up on this farm with them.” She gazed back and pointed at the horses. “See that dun, the tan one with with black mane and tail? That’s Cashew, or Cash, as we called him. Impertinent gelding he was. The grey mare beside him is Lacey. Sweet thing she always was. We had another, a chestnut stallion named Jack, but he died when I was eight. My parents were crop farmers, but they loved horses and couldn’t stand not having them.” She looked back at Dante and grinned. “I never minded.”
