“Captain,” Corinne greeted. The background was darkened, so they couldn’t see her surroundings. “I’ve been speaking with Bradley, the AI of the shuttle. I’m not entirely sure what might be useful, but you should know that Bradley was programmed to not give away much of any information. And where he’s from, AI’s can feel pain. If he was to divulge things he’s been forbidden to, there would be great consequences. You can imagine that I was not willing to inflict harm upon him for our gain.”

~Corinne/SARAH

Dante nodded as Corinne spoke, it was hard to imagine a program, and AI, being able to feel pain but to Dante, the programming of such was no less a barbaric act than the act of torture itself. Creating the ability for a sentient being to feel pain as a punishment spoke little of the culture or being that created such. “Noted” he said to the face on the screen, until he was able to ‘sit down’ and have a conversation with the being, AI, person, it left him a little unsure of what to call her. “Hopefully what you did manage to retrieve will shed some light on the situation, if not, we can work on a way to reprogram the AI once we know more about it to remove that block.”

On the screen, Dante noted the developments on the ground below them having the ship tracking the signals of the away team. Watching Colter, he noted the shot being taken, half tempted to beam the shooter out first but with the possibility of a field disrupting transporters around the unknown shooter, stayed his hand and let the shot fly, but..

Dante winced slightly watching the shot on the screen, he couldn’t see the end result, but the life sign winking out told him all he needed to know. Opening his mouth to reply, he was halted as Williams began to speak…

“Captain, that won’t be necessary,” interjected Mr. Williams, “History has been restored, thanks to your away team. I have now full communication back to my headquarters. We’re going to sort you out now.”

Nodding, he turned to Mr Williams. “Thank you, I think it’s high time we returned home and got out of this place, it could have been the last thing we ever did.”

The away team found themselves on the Bridge. While Corinne found herself disconnected from the shuttle, and the mysterious craft was no where on the ship. Readings would indicate that they were back in normal space, where they started this whole journey. Along with the runabout as well.

One of the NE’s at a console looked around with a slightly confused, yet happy look on his face. “Captain, we’re home. Sensors are showing we are back in Federation Space, the year is 2394.”

“Captain, you’ll find all your crew accounted for, with exception of your former First Officer and with your new temporary First Officer on board back in your own time. We’ll take care of informing the Temporal Department of Investigations. Starfleet will only note that the Saracen was missing for a week, which I imagine you will correct the record for,” said Williams, “And the anomaly has been repaired as well. If you do not have any further questions for me, Captain, I thank you for you and your crew’s cooperation.”

DaVinci had felt the kick from the shot and watched his target fall through the scope. A moment later, he was back on the Saracen’s bridge, still in the prone position he had taken the shot from. As he materialized, he lowered his head and rested his forehead on the rifle stock for just a moment before returning to his feet.

Dante look at the members of his crew, and especially the away team and nodded to them with a grateful smile, then turned to Williams. “Thank you Williams” he told the man, “Your assistance has been most welcome, I shudder to think of the consequences had you, and my crew, not been able to right the timeline. I expect you are eager to return home yourself, wherever that may be. Safe Journeys Mr Williams, and don’t take this the wrong way, but I hope we don’t have need of your services in the future.”

“I’d answer whether that would be possible but that would be a violation of the Temporal Accords and your Temporal Prime Directive,” said Williams, “Goodbye, Captain.”

Williams presses down on his arm and disappeared.

Turning to Colter, Dante nodded again at a job well done. What he had been forced to do was necessary, but for most people it would leave a mark. Colters own past was interesting to say the least, and while Dante had had very little time to get to know his Officers on this hectic mission, he knew he needed to sit down and talk with them, especially Colter. “Well Done” he said, both to Colter and to the team, “go and take a break, get some rest after the last few days and make your reports.”

“Thank you, sir,”DaVinci replied. “I could use a rest.”

Colter (CIO)

“Helm, set us on course to Starbase 257 for repairs and resupply, Warp 6.” Then he turned to the rest of the crew on the Bridge, “I expect some down time is in order.”

On the screen, SARAH appeared more normally, rather than through Bradley’s interface. “Oh goodie, I’ve been looking forward to vacation. Really want to work on my tan now that everything is well in order. All systems good,” she reported with a cheeky grin. “Oh, and thanks for not doing anything too crazy. While Bradley was programmed to feel pain, I feel it as a weird consequence of my integration. Paint chipping is a bit like rug burn,” she commented before her image disappeared rather abruptly.

~Corinne Dalton/SARAH

He couldn’t help a slight grin as Corinne disappeared from the screen, but after a moment the grin disappeared. “My ship has paint chipping?” He asked, then looked to his Chief of Operations and raised an eyebrow with an expression that said nothing short of ‘you better fix this’.

Sha had appeared as the rest. While Colter was already prone, the suddenness of the shift back to the bridge and ‘reality’ left her slightly unsteady. Grateful to be near a wall, she made no bones to hide herself as she leaned back on it to allow her mind, and equilibrium, to return to normal. Time travel didn’t sit well with her, she decided as she watched Williams depart and the others move off to ‘back to normal.

Without speaking, she quietly pushed away from the wall and headed for the lift. She wanted nothing more than to sit down and have her old face back… again. The attention her flat forehead gave her was flattering, but it was unnerving at the same time. She imagined her sleep would be seriously dream plagued for nights to come.
