“Will your cocktail here,” DaVinci asked pointing to the hypo, “have any effects on their TK? That is, if they have the same abilities as you do. I don’t like the idea of having my own phaser pointed at me.”

Colter (CIO)

“Theoretically, they might be even more adept that Dr. Boja. They likely come from a group that has the skills and therefore have an opportunity to practice and people to help them teach them use their skills. Conversely, I don’t think their abilities would have them counter a large number of non-telekinetic people.”

Teller Graham CSO

Boja gestured to the hypo and tried to hide the tension the question had spread through her body. “No, it doesn’t work like that. the only way to inhibit mental abilities like mine is to individually inhibit them cortically. But, if they have a reaction, their ability to focus enough would likely, perhaps even should, be compromised.”

Lt. Boja, CMO

Jarred hadn’t said too much during the time. He knew of much of this on his being friends with Boja but he couldn’t honestly have been prepared for all this. “Suppression fields can be designed, if we had to, but not sure how well they can work. It’s a rather untested field, seeing as there is not that many known telekinetic races.” Jarred suggested, but from all he knew the cortical was odds are the best path. He wasn’t liking much of the tone, but he knew everyone here would gladly help Boja and keep her safe.

“I don’t know much about telekinesis dampening fields. Might need a specialist for something like that.” He shrugged. At this point he thought they were over thinking it. But that wasn’t for him to say.

“In the end, it might just be a pipe dream. Most technology for that is limited and needs close contact. Still, we know little… and it may not be needed.”

Alindor, CE

“Is the device you have made going to have any effect on the rest of our people?” Dante asked them, “and how much of this needs to be sprayed for an effect to occur? Are we talking distribution through the air supply system as needed or direct spray from a hand held device? Do we have some kind of antidote for this if the reaction of these, people, is more severe than we expect should the need for this arise?”

“There should be no effect on our… people from this universe. I haven’t placed it in any mass distribution system like the environmental systems. I just have it set up in sprays, and in a portal system for doors… like the turbo-lift going to the bridge and engineering.” He paused as he looked towards Satreya. “There is no evidence to prove they are hostile… I haven’t maximized the defensive posture we could take.”

Graham

Dante nodded, “It wouldn’t do to take such a defensive position lest we encourage them, through our own behavior, to do what we suspect they might be capable of. But it is good to have a plan to fall back on if events spiral out of our control.” He looked around the table and addressed the Senior Staff again, “Dr Boja informs me that she, believes, that these, people, are within 10 light years of our current position, and possibly tracking us, or more precisely, her, at this moment. How, we do not know. Therefore I have decided to seek Them out first, and initiate contact if we can. That way, we may put them on the back foot if they assume we, or Dr Boja, is running from them and they may be more inclined to talk if their intent is indeed hostile. Do we have any comments or questions ladies and gentlemen?”

“While I agree with the strategy, I have to ask. When the ship pulls up in front of them, anything… interesting I should expect or have prepared?” Seamus asked. He had to protect the ship from whatever external threats came her way.

“I concur, Captain. Let’s take the ball score first. They’ll then know that we are aware of them. At least they won’t have the element of surprise.”

Colter (CIO)

“Standard First Contact procedure” he said to the CTO, “Our mission is still one of seeking out new life, but I would like shields already up and Phasers ready to come online in a blink.” Then turned to Colter, “I am hoping that without that element of surprise, any hostility they may have had would be suppressed completely, especially if they are not much more advanced than us, or at all.” He nodded to the two in thanks for their questions, and kept looking around the table.
