She laughed. “Adorable. I don’t know that anyone went out of their way to call me that,” Cori said with a grin. “But I always did have a good sense of humour. It has come in handy on more than one occasion especially given all the events in my life. I mean, really Jarred, there hasn’t been much reason to laugh,so I’ve been okay creating those opportunities for myself.”

“I know… ” he said softly, Cori had been dear to him for a very long time. He wasn’t sure of much anymore, his life feeling turned upside and rightside up. Still, Cori was a friend, a dear one. He loved her, greatly. There was a part of him that often wondered how much of his past he clinged to with her though. Everything they were and are seemed to go back to his ex wife and her murder. Even her second death was him feeling like if he had her back things would be right. Jarred though was broken, and in many ways so was Cori, trying to fix each other may not always be the best thing for each other.
“I did… I did have some things to bring up. Your body, I wanted to work on you. I wanted to make you feel safe, and whole. You need to be able to go wherever you want. This place, it has some bittersweet memories for both of us. Maybe too many.” he said softly, he had been thinking far too long on the two of them. He wasn’t sure what he wanted, or who he was even in some ways. The Jarred he knew seemed to have left many years ago.

She looked around his quarters, avoiding his gaze for a moment. They had talked about creating an android body for her, to give her true freedom from the ship, but the risks were enormous. That hadn’t changed. But being trapped in the systems for three years had done a number on how she felt about a lot of things, including what she viewed as an extraordinary existence as the ship’s defacto AI. It was worth the risk, but she hadn’t gotten up to courage to commit to it. “Well,” she said, turning back to him, but still not meeting his gaze. He’d see too much and she knew he’d accept the challenge easily. “If there was something in front of me that was tangible, I suppose I could consider it.”
