Was it enough? She didn’t know, but she did know that she loved Jarred and he loved her. For now it was all she needed. Well, aside from some more freedom from her direct attachment to the Saracen’s computer, but there seemed little that could be done on that front. “It’s good enough for me,” she said at last, smiling up at him.

“You know, I’ve been used to being this height for a long time, but I technically could change my height if I wanted to,” Cori said with a grin.

“What height would you want?” he said, wondering what she meant by this. He had never really wanted to change anything about her. He knew officially he could have whatever woman he wanted, but he loved Cori. He never once thought about changing a single photon of her.

Cori shimmered within his arms and suddenly fell about 10 cms shorter than him. She was able to gaze into his eyes much more easily and grinned. “See, Much better. Not that I have to worry about neck strain, but I still think this is kind of nice, don’t you think?”

“You… you have always been adorable haven’t you?” he said as he beamed at her. The two had seen so much, and in many ways were remnants on this ship, the old guard so to speak. Maybe that was what drew them, connection to the past in the present. Still, while some might call them an odd pair they always seemed happiest at just being.

She laughed. “Adorable. I don’t know that anyone went out of their way to call me that,” Cori said with a grin. “But I always did have a good sense of humour. It has come in handy on more than one occasion especially given all the events in my life. I mean, really Jarred, there hasn’t been much reason to laugh,so I’ve been okay creating those opportunities for myself.”
