He cleared his mind of nonsense with a visible shake of his head and a wry smile as he acknowledged the Saracen’s transporter chiefs greeting and welcome aboard. He stepped smartly through the turbolift and into the same generic, gunmetal hallways that seemed interminably uniform aboard Starfleet installations and raised his voice slightly “Computer, locate Captain Knight.”

Doctor Nathaniel Harrison (CMO)

The Saracen’s Computer answered immediately. =/\= Captain Knight is on Holodeck One. Directional Guides are available if you wish. =/\= Whether he wished it or not, panels on the wall lit up showing the way to the Holodeck that Dante was occupied in.

Captain Knight, CO

A raised eyebrow in surprise, he found himself appreciating that particular system. He’d spent weeks roaming aimlessly the corridors of Starbase 91 before he had managed to pin down the layout. Following the lit panels, he arrived in relatively short order at the telltale diarrhoea hued doors to a Starfleet issue holodeck. He briefly considered, but dismissed, checking into his quarters to ensure his belongings arrived safely as the Captain was clearly not on duty. As his first commanding officer had made quite plain, rule number one was that you reported in immediately upon arrival, regardless of circumstance. It seemed an almost universal paranoia amongst senior officers that they did not appreciate not knowing anything, least of all who was on their team.

Tapping the panel to verify that the doors to the holodeck weren’t privacy sealed, he tapped the door control, wondering what kind of recreational and undoubtedly gratuitously bloody program the Captain of a battlecruiser might indulge in.

Doctor Nathaniel Harrison (CMO)

The panel to the holodeck revealed only that the program that was running, was named only with a series of numbers and letters that appeared for all intents and purposes, random. The doors were not locked however, and opened almost immediately to admit Harrison.

Before him, the day shone bright in a cloudless blue sky suspended over a wide lake. Where the CMO would step through left him in a small clearing, a small pathway winding away through a thick forest to his left. The only sounds to reach him were the sounds of birds and insects, the sound of water lapping gently against the shore and a light breeze rippling through the treetops. There was no sound of human life anywhere that he could hear, but on the ground in the soft dirt before him, footprints followed the path.

The path would wind onwards a way, rocks crossed a stream that meandered towards the lake and in many places low branches had to be ducked under or pushed aside to allow passage. It would eventually lead to another, smaller clearing where a pair of wooden deck loungers had been set up facing the lake. Beside these a box of some kind sat, which held Ice and a number of dark brown bottles. Behind the loungers a table and chairs rested beside some kind of ancient looking, four legged bench that had a metal plate on top, half of which had some kind of grill and the other a flat surface. Assorted tools of some kind lay on the table and another box rested before it, this one closed. The faint smell of steak and onions hung in the air and seemed to originate from the metal topped bench.

The Captain sat on one of the loungers, facing slightly away from Harrison with his feet up, a baseball hat showing some team named the Wildcats pulled low on his head. He appeared to be reading an old paper book while beside him was a long pole with a small winch, sitting almost upright in a holder with a thin line extending into the water. On the Captains other side, was an opened brown bottle. The man himself was not in uniform, instead wearing plain slacks and a vest that left his short sleeved arms free. From the angle that he was sitting, words were visible tattooed under his left bicep while a single word was somewhat visible on his right, although at this distance what they said wasn’t clear. He had a somewhat square and defined jawline and sported a light stubble that was clearly groomed and not a lazy days growth.
