Whether he’d let her or not, she wasn’t sure, but she somewhat guided him through simple steps to make for a romantic and intense dance. She let her body stay close and more than once she tilted her head up to him and planted a kiss on his neck or jaw, all the while, never missing a step.

Jarred felt content, at peace in her arms as he just let her lead him, the kisses making him remember why he loved her so. Jarred hadn’t had an easy life, so many people had seemed to leave, abandon, or get killed that he loved and cherished. His father had always been a force of nature to him, expecting perfection and frowning when he refused to become a marine.

This moment though, this was pure and it was his and he wasn’t going to loose it, not again. “I love you…” he said softly, this was the first time he had uttered those words since she died, so to speak. Since her arrival it had been too much to bare and he wasn’t sure it wasn’t all a dream. Here alone quiet, it felt like the right moment to let her know how he felt.

Cori smiled. “I love you too, even though some days it seems like a terrible idea when I have no set lifespan. But most of the time, I’m just grateful for you. I’m also grateful not to be hidden away and suck in some dark box, so you know, my viewpoint might be more skewed than usual.”

“That’s fine, and it doesn’t matter what our lifespan is, it doesn’t. I have had enough heartache for a lifetime and you haven’t had it any easier. As long as we are together… well isn’t that all that matters?” he asked her softly as he leaned in to kiss her forehead.

Was it enough? She didn’t know, but she did know that she loved Jarred and he loved her. For now it was all she needed. Well, aside from some more freedom from her direct attachment to the Saracen’s computer, but there seemed little that could be done on that front. “It’s good enough for me,” she said at last, smiling up at him.

“You know, I’ve been used to being this height for a long time, but I technically could change my height if I wanted to,” Cori said with a grin.
