“I’ll keep that in mind. I have plenty of males amongst Security Officers that can both mentor him and keep an eye on him. And with my intercesion on some angles, I am sure we can either find him worth saving, or stave off a disaster by pointing him out of Star Fleet and into a better fitting field, whatever that will be.” She glanced to the CO and smiled. “I had a temper once, as well. Sometimes it’s just a sense of belonging and a need to vent on occassion that can help. If it doesn’t, I am confident I can handle it… with your permission, of course.”

She wasn’t sure, but something told her there was something in this kid’s past that needed addressing and no one had taken the time to delve into it. She was guessing a good hot sparring session with insults unhampered might be just the trick.

Dante nodded at Triton and sighed. “Do it, and include your progress in your reports. Counselor keep on with your follow up sessions and see if you can get a sense of improvement or the opposite. He’s a member of this crew whether we like it or not, and until he proves that he is not a member of this crew, then he is an Officer in Starfleet. He might have three years in Starfleet with no promotion, but that is only three years. Plenty of our best Captains went longer, and likely had just as bumpy a start. Lets look for opportunities to let his positive qualities shine, yes?”

Captain Knight, CO

“Of course, Captain. Right now the young man doesn’t have a target on his back… but I will say that if he fails to perform as the COS and myself hope, he will. Not form anyone here, but from Command. And there will be little we can do to assist him then.”

Sinclair, CNS

Sha took that as a hint to the end of the conversation. “Well my guess is that he’ll be looking for me next, if medical and you are finished. I’ll get him in and settled and keep you both apprised.”

Nodding to Sinclair, she then turned to the Captain, “Permission to go?”

This was going to be fun… She thought as she waited her answer.

“Dismissed, Lieutenant.” Dante said to her, then sat back and waited for the Security Chief to leave.

Sha nodded to the two and departed for her office.

Once Sha had left, Dante looked to Sinclair. “I have no worries about the Chiefs abilities to handle herself, do you have any further thoughts in this Ensign?”

Sinclair looked at the Captain for a long while in silence. Finally speaking, he said “Skipper, as your Ship’s Counselor I will say that there is nodirect evidence he has any issues other other than repressed anger, and over developed sense of self-importance, and a skewed view of gender roles. But my former Security side has it’s hackles up, Captain. I don’t know what it is, but there is a bad streak in that one a mile wide. And it will show itself it he gets pushed too far by someone… anyone. Who else do you know that punches a bulkhead during their on-boarding exam? Folks usually save that one for their ‘not guilty by reason of insanity’ plea.”

“Oh I have met plenty of Klingon’s who have done the same or similar, but I am listening. Be that as it is, it still isn’t enough to take him off duty. He is entitled to his opinions, but it is his actions we can act on. Keep an eye on him, let him know he’s not forgotten and if he puts a foot out of line, we will be there.” With that Dante stood up and brushed his tunic off with a sigh.

“As much as I would like to be able to deal with someone simply because they are a ‘bad egg’, we still need to have a reason to throw all that investment out the window, and the reason we have right now, isn’t enough. It’s completely up to Flynn now, Counselor.”
