Sinclair nodded once and said “Ok. Then we get to work right now. First, I want you to take a period and decompress a bit. No soul searching, no self-examination. Just take twenty-four hours to try and get yourself as centered as you can, all right? Then, I want you to send me two things. First: I want a list of your favorite fictional characters. Doesn’t matter if they are literary, vid, folk tales… just your favorites. No specific number. The next is I want you to think about where you would go if you could anywhere, at any time. A lake house, a volcano, a bar… it doesn’t matter. I just want you to think about where you would love to go more than any where else.”

Sinclair, CNS

She gazed at him thoughtfully, her eyes intensifying for a moment. “Okay…” she said at length. Fictional characters? Did she have any? She wasn’t much of a reader these days, and she had grown up on a farm and never had holoprograms or anything as a kid. That would require some thinking.

Leaning forward, Cori tapped the side of her thigh for a moment. “About this one-day centring thing. I mean”-she paused and frowned a bit-“when people do that, they go somewhere, right? Well, I can go anywhere on the ship, technically, but I don’t have anywhere to go. You know what I mean? If I go back into the system, then all I’m left with are my thoughts. So… I mean, I can understand it might be a bit weird and I don’t expect a permanent solution right away. But… could I have some quarters? Even guest quarters for today? I mean, if I’m supposed to centre myself, shouldn’t I be able to do that without imposing on other people? Hogging the holodeck wasn’t exactly productive, even if it was a rare space she could escape to.

Sinclair looked at her a bit and then nodded once. Tapping his comm badge he said =/\= Counselor to Operations. Please assign quarters for Lieutenant Dalton. Let her know when her quarters are ready. Please confirm. =/\=

Sinclair, CNS

Her vibrant gaze was piercing as she considered Sinclair. She knew well enough that he wasn’t playing games with her. “Technically, they don’t even have to inform me.” It’s not like it was hard for her to find that information out easily. He didn’t say guest quarters though, so did that mean she was getting her own permanent space? For a moment her memories drifted back to her El Aurian lover and the modifications he had had made so that she could spend time with him in his quarters. Could she ask for that? It was a significant power issue, but it was also complicated by the weirdness between her and the person who would be responsible for the modifications. But at least for a few hours today she could be alone without retreating into the system. And if she recharged her emitter between now and when her quarters were ready, then she might how more than a day.

The other thing that hit her mind was his instruction to get “centred” without any introspection. That would be… difficult.

OOC: Forgot to do a hard return after your reply. Fixed the post

A few seconds passed and chirp on Sinclair’s badge preceded a voice saying =/\= Confirmed, Commander. Quarters are assigned and ready. Deck Ten, Port Section Thirty-Six, Room Three-Six-One-Eight. =/\= Sinclair looked at Corinne and said “I would recommend moving in as soon as you can. And make the space your own, how you want it. Once you have done that, I want to meet yo in my office and we will go over your wellness plan. Sound ok to you?”

Sinclair, CNS

How she wanted it? She wasn’t even sure, even though she had thought about asking for quarters for awhile. That would take some thought, even if the technological side wasn’t possible right now. For now, she just gazed at Royal and nodded. “Yes. I will also go so Lieutenant Graham about working in the science department.” That was bound to be an interesting conversation given that they had never directly interacted before. Surely he knew all about her, at least peripherally, but how much did he really understand?
