DaVinci had been waiting for the results of the blood sample obtained from the dagger that the Volga’s crew had given them.

Even though, the captain had his suspicions on who the attackers were, he was hoping the sample could confirm this. And because of this, he needed to discuss some options with the CMO.

The doors of sickbay swooshed open and closed as he stepped in. Moving directly to the doctor’s office, he rang the chime.

“Ally? It’s DaVinci. We need to talk.”

“What’s up,” Ally said looking at Colter with a slight edge to her tone. It was rare to see him here and even rarer for him to be looking for her on duty hours.

The CO stepped in and let the door close behind him As he sat down, he drew a deep breath.

“These people we’re up against, I’ve got suspicions on who they are. I’ve seen their tactics. . . .I’ve experienced . . .their tactics, about 400 years ago. And if it is them, we’ve got a tough job ahead of us. We’re going to need an edge.”

“You think they are Augments,” Ally stated more in surprise than a direct challenge to Colter’s assessment. The man was not one to jump to conclusions unless he had formed a hypothesis, proved it, and was just presenting the results.

“Okay if they are Augments, it is going to take more than a horse tranquilizer to take them down. The original Augments had a host of genetic alterations which essentially made my job obsolete in a sense. They are faster, stronger and have a vastly superior metabolism. They also have an immune system that is impervious to just about any bug, bacteria or virus however, you have me,” Ally said happily. “I will find something to take them out several different ways but they are fast. Inhalation is the fastest way past blood stream to get something into someone’s body. How long do I have to come up with my conk out cocktail?”
