Lt. Valharra headed to the medical bay after getting settled into his quarters of the ship. He stepped through the doors and waited for medical staff to be free to assist him in his check in. The 5’ 10” tall, black hair, green eyed Vulcan stood at ease in the corner of the room.

“Ally,” a vice belted out without answering the question that was posed.

“Yeah,” a voice replied coming out of a small office in the back.

“Patient for you,” the nurse said pointing a stylus at the woman before going back to what she was doing.

Ally walked up to the waiting officer with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step. “Hello I am Dr. Scott. What can I do for you?”

“I’m Lt. Valharra, I will be the new Chief Intelligence Officer, so I am hear for my initial check up.” Lt. Valharra responded to Dr. Scott.

“Bed Five,” she said gesturing to an open one in the corner. Picking up a PaDD she opened it up to his file but did not look at it, setting it on the edge of the bed she indicated. “So is it worth looking at that file or should I just ask you about your history? I know how intelligence loves their black pen for redactions.” Her tone was light and the comment fully humorous. It was well known to doctors that security and intelligence often had large parts of their files redacted especially if they had spent time doing secret missions.

“I’m fairly new to the security and intelligence field, Lt. Scott, most of my experience is in science and engineering, so I am in this position after reclass training at Starfleet, at the request of the captain of the Ark Angel, after I helped get information to the bridge from the engineering office, where romulans were trying to take over the ship. My file mostly talks about burns and cuts from navigating small Jefferies tubes and making repairs to console panels.” The Vulcan stated as he walked to and got on the bed.

“Call me Ally,” she said moving up to the bed, “and that is quite a transition. So you were voluntold or was this a change you were looking for?” She ran the tricoder over the CIO and waited for the results.

“Mix of both, honestly. Captain Donoghuei was very impressed with the information I gave him and how I acquired it from the Romulans, he felt I was a natural at being an Intelligence officer, and we both felt with as many engineers as the ship already had, there wasn’t enough work on the ship to keep me challenged anymore. So, it was only logical for a fresh start, and new breath of life in my starfleet career.” He stated.

“So protecting the crew from a warp core throwing a tantrum wasn’t enough to keep you challenged,” Ally let out a laugh. “You must have nerves of steel. I don’t think people realize how anxiety provoking it can be to be an engineer. It probably will help you in your new career path. Intelligence officers are cool as cucumbers.”

“I am Vulcan, so I don’t easily show my nerves. Engineering was challenging, the numbers, problem solving, memorizing all the equations of matter and antimatter, to keep the ship from not blowing up, among other things. I think this challenge of being in Intelligence is going to be easier because of my history with the Vulcan Science Academy and my time as an engineer.” He continued.

“Maybe,” she said causally, “but intelligence takes a bit of emotion to get people to trust you until you are always going to be the bad cop. My brother and dad are San Diego cops. My brother is never the bad cop because he can’t keep a straight face however when someone needs a bit of charming to get information my dad is not the go to in that dynamic duo,” she let out a laugh.

“I believe humans refer to it as having a ‘Poker face.’” He mused at the story of her family. “I believe my suppression of emotions will help greatly with that, though your right, it’ll be easier for me to be in your dad’s roll, I am not good with humor.” He continued.

“So any aches or complaint’s to note,” she asked scanning him with a tricorder
