Sickbay was quiet when he arrived—just the soft hum of bio-monitors and the faint antiseptic scent that never seemed to fully dissipate, no matter the decade or the deck plating.

He stepped inside and gave a short nod to the nurse behind the reception console. “Lieutenant Commander Llakar Harel. Reporting for my onboarding physical.”

He didn’t bother to mask the faint weariness in his voice. Not exhaustion, exactly—just the weight of too many years in too many starship sickbays, saying the same thing to strangers in white coats.

The nurse tapped something into a PaDD and gestured toward one of the biobeds. “Right over there, sir. The doctor will be with you shortly.”

He moved to the indicated bed and sat, posture straight, eyes flicking briefly to the readouts before settling forward again. He clasped his hands loosely in his lap.

“Not that I’m not thrilled to be here,” he murmured to no one in particular, “but if I never had to explain my entire trauma history to a new physician again, I wouldn’t complain.”

“Well then don’t,” a voice said followed by a crunching sound. Ally chewed the bite of apple before introducing herself. “I’m Ally Scott. I see you are here for a check in,” she replied looking at the PaDD in her hand. “I am going to assume all the things interesting to doctors like your vitals are documented here. I can review them and if I have any pressing questions I can reach out. What if we start with the stuff you want me to know about you?” Over the years medical files became fat with facts. Every cut, scrape or broken bone was logged meticulously in the notes. Patients however often had things they valued as part of their information. This was what Ally initially cared most about. It gave her a lot of insight as to the type of patient the officer would be.
