“There was a spark in the warp core controls and then the machines blew up. But there was no problems with the core itself. That’s all I know Cap. I’m sorry.” He shook his head in disgust and held it down in shame.

“I can fix anything up to 30 minutes except the hair loss,” Ally stated pausing for a second and then nodding as if confirming her prior statement. “That will just take a few weeks to grow back.”

Perhaps the chief would think Sheleah wasn’t making any sense at the moment. Making sense wasn’t the point. Keeping him awake was the point and that was what she intended to do. She kept up a bit of prattle as she tended to his ankle. She really hoped she would chime in, or at least chuckle, tell her to go away something. Out of here.

DaVinci knelt down beside Sheleah and Quigley, his eyes on the engineer, looking for a sign of coherence. “Sheleah, we could really use him in there right now. Is there any chance he’s not too scrambled to give some directions on what all needs to be done? Hell, if he can’t walk, I’ll carry him. He can’t be more that . . . 180-190 or so?”
