Matthew woke up early to head down to engineering to catch up on some of his paperwork as it were and after a nice hot sonic shower he got dressed and went down. As soon as the doors to Engineering opened, there was a loud and massive explosion. The boss blew Matthew back as the doors sensor picked up on the explosion and shut. Matthew was almost cleared off the doors on his way back to the other side of the hull from the explosion when only his right ankle was caught in the door trapping it and breaking it in several places as well as a concussion from hitting his head on the floor.

Alarms went off in the bridge and surrounding area as well as shields went up to protect the core. The blast did originate from the warp core area but not the core itself. Fires are spreading across the Engineering section while computers sparked. There were seven people on the floor but only only two were moving. Others in the area were trying to get the others out of danger as best they could.

One Ensign with blood running down her face pressed her combadge. =/\= Engineering to Sickbay! We have multiple casualties in Engineering. Request a whole team to come. We cannot beam anyone out as we don’t know yet what happened and if any toxic chemicals are out and about. I’m feeling dizzy but I think it is because of blood loss. I am initiating Quarantine procedures now!=/\=

=/\=Medical on route=/\= Ally yelled as she grabbed her med kit and bolted from the space.

=/\= Bridge. We are having problems but the warp core is stable for now but be I don’t know for how much longer! It is steadily rising in temperature but very slowly.=/\=

=^= Acknowledged, engine room. We felt the bump up here. Where is Cmdr. Quiggley?=^= asked the CO.

=/\=Security. We need personnel to block off the level and the half leading up to the affected area to minimize casualties....... I’m starting to get light.... Headed.... Maybe there was.....a..breach.....=/\=

The engineer went silent after that.

Without getting a response as to Quiggley’s whereabouts, DaVinci called for a yellow alert, and notified the entire ship of the engineering situation. He also relayed the message to security and medical for their assistance. He nodded to the senior bridge officer to take over the conn and broke for the turbolift. . . . .

While in the turbolift the computer responded to the Captains previous question. =/\= Lieutenant Commander Matthew Quigley, Chief Engineer, is at the entrance doors to Engineering on Deck 12. His vitals signs are in the orange. The Main doors to Engineering are being held open by him causing a ship wide break in quarantine.=/\=

Sheleah intercepted the Captain as he stepped out of the turbo lift. She gave him the I’m coming with you glance and fell and step with him.

DaVinci nodded to Sheleah as the met.

Ally skidded to a halt seeing Quigley. Pulling out her tricorder, Ally scanned him.

Matthew was ok, just knocked out but had a broken ankle and a head wound.

Scott CMO

Turning a bend in the corridor, they saw the doors to engineering propped ope and Dr. Scott on her knees scanning Quiggley.

“Dr. we have to move him out of the way. You and Sheleah pull him out while I hold the doors open.”

Sheleah didn’t have time to wonder if that was the right call. She sprung into action assisting Dr. scott.

“There might be more wounded inside. If we let the doors close how are we getting back in,” Ally asked preparing to help the CNS move Quigley.

The CO looked back into the engine room. From what he could see, the two engineers still moving, began working on the consoles in an attempt to contain the damage. He found a piece of debris and jammed it between the doors.

=^=Computer, is there any radiation leakage threatening the personnel in the engine room?=^=

The Computer chimed in. =/\=There is a small amount of radiation leaking into the engine room and will become fatal in 40 minutes. There are 12 personnell incompaciated as of right now in the Engine Room and two that are not.=/\=

ICC: Colter took a deep breath and ran into the engineering room. =^=Computer, emergency transport of all injured personnel in the engineering room to sickbay.=^=

The CO was by no means an engineer, but he could flip switches and turn knobs on consoles. Nearing the closest upright engineer, he yelled above the din. “What can I do to help?”

The NE Engineer looked stunned seeing the Captain brave the radiation and other vapes to come running in like a 20th Century firefighter through a burning building to save him and looked up at with no less admiration.

“Uhhh! Ju..just help me power down the remaining consoles so they don’t blow. These are secondary consoles so they will not affect what is going on. I need to keep this one on to try to stabilize the warp core. Thank you sir! I’m almost done. Just need a few more minutes.”

All of the downed personnel were beamed to Sickbay with quarantine parameters in place.

“Dr, should we stabilize him before moving?”

Sheleah didn’t feel completely out of her depth but, she should probably brush up on her emergency medical preparedness.

“Yes. Get everyone out you can via transporter.” Ally pulled out her medical tricorder and took a scan of the room and set some parameters. There was no way she was going to leave with radiation levels rising. She could treat radiation exposure to an extent. Engineers were the second worst patients after security because both departments stretched the limits of their physical bodies.

OOC: That is so true about what you just wrote about Security and Engineering!

IC: Matthew was droggy but coming to and hearing a lot of commotion. Looking up he saw two females. One he thought looked like the CMO but the other he had no idea. Come on Matthew! You can do this. Time to take control and have consciousness.. “Fjloyvvish.” Flawless. I’m getting there. He kept saying in his head. He slowly shook his head and tried again. “What’s going on?”

“Good morning sleeping beauty,” Ally said running a tricorder over Matthew. He was obviously was disoriented waking up and Ally wanted him to take is slow for a moment. Easy banter usually did the trick. “You had us worried for a moment. How are you feeling? Anything hurt?”
