“Lunch sounds great. I am starving. And no, please, ladies first.” and he stepped to the side as the doors opened and gestured for her to go through.

She laughed at his comment as she exited the room first. “Ladies first. I think you are probably the only one who would dare say that to a Klingon.” She looked back and winked at him, “Even a half breed like myself.”
She was fairly quiet on the walk to the lift and back up. She nodded and greeted a couple crewmen who hailed them as they passed.
Sha led them back up to deck ten and into the nearly empty Ten Forward. It was middle of the shift so most had already eaten or wouldn’t be in for a bit. She led him to the replicators and ordered a tea and a simple meat sauced dish. “There is also a mess hall on this deck, but most eat there during the day. I thought this would be a bit more interesting.” She nodded to the vast bank of wide and tall windows that gave an amazing view. “I’ll let you pick what you are hungering for then where you want to sit.” She laughed. “Ladies decision.”
She wasn’t sure why, but she was enjoying herself more than she thought, despite the slight awkwardness a little bit ago.

CoSSinclair chuckled and said “Fair enough.” and then commenced to ordering. Two large double cheeseburgers, rare, with everything on them. A plate of fish and chips, side of malt vinegar. Bangers and mash. Pitcher of iced tea, unsweetened. Toffee pudding with clotted cream and mixed berries. As he stacked the various plates with an expertise born of repetition and familiarity, he looked at her and said “Ok. Let’s eat.” with a smile and a wink.

She had visited the Klingon homeworld enough times to not balk at his loaded tray. Most Klingon were ravenous eaters. She’d just never met another species like that, appetite wise. With a small laugh, she added two more dishes and a dessert to get own tray and they moved to a table for six by the windows. “Well at least I know I won’t have to watch myself eating around you.” She shook her head as they emptied the trays into the table and settled the not so small feast before them.
First thing, like all good shipmates, she reached out and snatched up one the French fries popped it in her mouth. “Can’t help it,” she smiled, “half human.”
Sha
CoSSinclair looked at her, a playful scowl on his face. “You realize, of course, that this means war.” and, much faster than one would expect a man his size could move, he stabbed a fork into her dessert and shoved the bite into his mouth as a broad smile crossed his face. “And I don’t even like this stuff.” he said around the mouthful of food. Washing down the bite, he said “Just so you know, chips are one thing. You go after my sticky toffee and I will have to break something internal in you.”

She opened her mouth to protest and ended up laughing. If she had actually considered it, she couldn’t have said the last time she had.
Hie mention of the taffy made her screw her face up. “No worries. I never found a taste for it. But something tells me more than war will be raised if you decide to abscond with my ‘kilm’kach’*.” She slid the plates around making sure they both had access to all the dishes. “There… truce…” she smiled once more and wasn’t aware, that for a moment… she was actually flirting.

Sinclair, seemingly oblivious to the undertones of the Security Chief’s gesture, simply smiled and said “Truce. But I’m not kidding about the sticky toffee.” with a friendly chuckle. He then picked up one of the burgers in one hand and took a bite. He looked out the window thoughtfully as he chewed for a moment, and then poured a glass of tea, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and washed down the burger. Looking back at Sha, he said “So I need to ask you a question.” and his face became entirely serious. “And it’s important you answer me honestly. Ready?”
