Fraiser stared at his reflection in the mirror. He was finally getting around to the appointment he’d been forced to rebook thanks to that two piece Counselor that fancied herself to be Freud. He glared at the memory. And now instead of simply letting him reschedule a simple appointment where he could sit at the couch and play her game, maybe pretend to tell a childhood sob story or two if that was what she was looking for. Instead, she’d requested that he wore some flexible clothing, something he could sweat in, which meant whatever she had in store for him wasn’t going to be typical. He hated when Counselors did that.He flexed his arm and smirked as it made his muscles stand out more prominently. He was wearing his Starfleet issue training gear but he’d opted to leave his shirt off. Instead he had a black running jacket worn loosely over top, unzipped, so his muscles and washboard abs were on full display. As always his hair was immaculate and with an extra spray of hair product it would stay that way despite whatever the Counselor had planned for him.
Finally feeling ready Flynn slung a gym bag over his shoulder and exited his quarters to meet the Counselor. If Lieutenant Sheleah wanted unconventional than he would go along with it, he thought to himself as he caught a female officer sneaking his abs, she might enjoy the view just as much every other female officer he was going to pass would.
Lt. (j.g) Flynn, Sec
Sheleah decided to meet Flynn halfway there. She had to drop Rex off at his play date anyway, so it just made sense. As she was exiting Lieutenant Brown’s quarters sure enough, she saw him striding by as only he could. Smiling she intercepted him and gave him a once over.
“What do you think?” Flynn flexed his muscles, and flashed Sheleah one of his charming smiles.
“Oh yes, those clothes will do just fine for now. Don’t you look handsome? This way, let’s grab the lift before the councilor marks you late.”
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
“We wouldn’t want that,” Flynn smirked, “I haven’t been late since my first year as a cadet at the Acadamy.”
Flynn headed for the lift, strolling with all the confidence of an officer who was familiar with the ship, even though it had been a few years since Flynn had last served as an officer it was clear he still remembered the Saracen. What he hadn’t been able to remember he had studied up in his quarters at night until the ship was just as ingrained in his memory as it had been in the past. As they passed other officers going about the day, Flynn would nod and smile at them with one of his charming smiles. What Sheleah may or may not notice was that the odd Ensign or two that he would greet, there would be a faint touch of what could be interpreted as superiority in his expression.
Once they were in the lift he turned to the Counselor, “So where exactly do you want me to take us?” he asked.
Flynn, Sec
Sheleah had noticed the subtle posturing as she walked with Flynn to the lift. There was definitely not enough time to discuss everything she probably felt like in this first session with him. Getting him to the holodeck was certainly an experience in and of itself.
“I’ve reserved holodeck 3 for us, so that’s where we need to be. In order to handle this little therapy session I have in mind I’d like just a little information please, what type of Athletics do you actually prefer?”
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
“Level 10,” Flynn ordered the computer, as the lift started motion, he turned to the Counselor, “Well that’s relative, there’s the athletics that I prefer because I enjoy it and the athletics that I prefer because it’s what keeps my body in the divine condition, I need it to be in.”
Flynn, Sec
“Hyperbole will get you nowhere. I do appreciate how you can dance around a question though.”
Flynn smirked, “I don’t know what you mean, Counselor”
Sheleah didn’t want to argue or play word games with this man, she just wanted to get him approved for duty. She knew they had to trust one another to a degree and they both needed to earn it from one another.
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
When Sheleah didn’t respond Flynn knew he wasn’t getting himself anywhere, “I like what I’m good at and what serves a purpose to me, though I suppose if I had to take a guess I’d say I like sparring most, it doesn’t matter the style. You used the dance analogy before and each type is like a different dance, then once you work your opponent’s moves out I you can best him with strength, speed, skill and stamina. A good opponent will compliment your moves and match them until the winner is determined.” He didn’t mention that there was something freeing in a good fist to fist fight, where one took as good as they gave and gave as good as they got.
Flynn, Sec
This actually made sense to Sheleah so she listens to even more closely. Why could he not make sense like this most of the time she wondered. He had more layers to him than she wanted to admit at first. Perhaps that was her own fault.
Seeing he had a captive audience subconsciously kept Flynn talking a little bit longer “A lot of officers I’ve worked with through my career like their gym training, but I find that it only takes them so far. As a teenager I didn’t have that kind of fancy equipment, I had to learn on the fly how to keep myself in the best possible condition I could. I think the first thing I learnt back then was that strength and speed don’t mean much if you can’t read your opponents. If you can’t learn what their favourite foot, or arm or combo is than you’ve already put yourself at a disadvantage no matter how good you might be.” Flynn stopped realising he’d said more than he had planned on saying.
“I appreciate your line of thinking. It can definitely be applied to many things in life other than this. So, that’s kind of what I want to do between the two of us. I’m going to teach you a little bit about me and learn a little bit about you and we will definitely get you approved for duty. Unless you want to make this harder still?”
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
Flynn raised an eyebrow, and smirked at the Counselor, almost as if in challenge. “That nearly sounds like a challenge.”
Friaser Flynn, Sec
Sheleah mused that it wasn’t a challenge, just a fact she probably shouldn’t have stated. Too late, they were there and it was time to get down to it.
“All right, who steps out of the lift first? Brains or beauty? Also here’s something else to think on, I will give you an hour of ballet lesson if you will give me an hour of hand to hand combat training. You choose the style you think might suit my body type and whatever level of experience you think I might have. I might surprise you.”
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
“Brawn”, Fraiser answered without hesitating and stepped off the lift and then paused outside to wait for Sheleah to join him in the hallway.
“Ballet, that must explain how you are in such good shape Counselor,” Flynn smirked, eyeing her body as she moved, wondering why she would possibly want to teach him ballet for. Putting it basically, ballet was for girls while wrestling was for boys. No real man that Fraiser knew flounced around in skin tight clothes and little pink tutus. But if that was what it would take to get him signed off on board by the Counsellor than he would humour her. “I won’t say no to seeing you in a leotard,”
Fraiser Flynn, Sec
Sheleah had stepped past him as she exited the lift and gave him a look. It wasn’t meant to be anything more than that she had acknowledged his statement. It would all be in her notes.
What was that look for? Flynn wondered as the Counselor stepped past him, Did he have a hair out of place?
“So, an hour of each. We’ll just put each other to the test and see what happens. I want to teach you ballet so you can understand me a little bit and, I guess, the only way for me to understand you is to put me through my paces besides, wouldn’t it make you feel better? I would also love to see you in some sexy gym clothes so, statements can work both ways.”
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
Flynn grinned, “Anything you say Counselor” he said emphasizing the last word. “I do look pretty sexy when I’m all hot and sweaty,” he winked.
“So what holodeck have you booked out for our little soiree?” he asked as they started walking down the corridor.
Faiser Flynn, Sec
“Holodeck 3. I think we can start off as soon as we get in, no real change-ups required. So, do you have a preferred hand to hand style?”
By the time Sheleah had finished asking the question they were rounding the corner to holodeck 3. This time, she didn’t ask whether he wanted to enter before her and just entered first herself.
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
Fraiser had been hoping to take the lead himself but they had been too close for him to subtly overtake Sheleah and so he was forced to let her enter first. “Goju-ryu” Flynn answered as they stepped onto the holodeck. “It’s a type of karate that means hard fist, soft fist. The idea being to defeat your opponent with all the skills you have at your disposal not just your stronger ones,”
“Have you done any hand to hand training before?”
Fraiser Flynn, Sec
Sheleah looked Flynn up and down again before smiling and shaking her head.
“No, not really. Daddy like to teach me to shoot whenever he had the opportunity and mother always thought I should be more refined. I did have a few gentlemen friends, I guess you’d say, who always thought I should learn to be more physical, no not like that. I should probably know more hand to hand that I do. Maybe that’s why we met.”
_Daddy__ Flynn thought, wondering what sort of Princess background the Counselor had and smirked when she mentioned physical but a look from Sheleah he kept his mouth shut. “You should consider yourself lucky” he said, “Not every lady gets to see me hot and sweaty and at my finest”
Sheleah had decided as they spent more and more time together that she should probably just clear him for duty, but this was too much fun. Perhaps she should just let Flynn have a little fun, feel powerful for a half an hour and just let the situation rest.
“All right, change of plans. You have half an hour to give me a beginner’s course in this thing I can’t pronounce.”
- Sheleah, CNS/DO
Why the sudden change of plans Flynn thought to himself, although he wasn’t going to dare ask the question out loud and remind the Counselor that they were going to prance about in tights like swans… or was it flamingos?
Keeping his surprise to himself Fraiser nodded to acknowledge the change in plans. “I’ll start you with the basics then. Computer play program Foxtrot Romeo Alpha Indigo Sahara Romeo Dojo. No characters,”
“Acknowledged” the Computer responded as all around Sheleah and Fraiser the room morphed. The floor beneath their feet softened into padded mats on top of a wooden floor, and they were surrounded by white walls. Down the back of the room where the floor was only wood, there was an enclave with various pieces of equipment such as rings, pull up bars, boxes, and some knotted rope hanging from the ceiling. To the right of them was a serious of cupboards with an insignia and some words in ancient Japanese writing written underneath.
“There’s padding like gloves and shin guards if you want them,” Fraiser indicated to two doors in the middle, he however, didn’t go that way and instead opened a door to the left and pulled out a big square punching pad that was slightly bigger than the size of his chest, tossing it on the floor behind him.
Fraiser Flynn, Sec
Sheleah looked around and took in the surroundings with great interest. Listening to what he said and thinking about the shin pads he offered she shook her head.
“No, that’s what dermal regenerators are for right? Besides, it can’t be any worse than white water rafting down the Amazon River can it? Let’s go.”
- Sheleah, CNS
Flynn nodded and didn’t say anything more but he felt a new touch of respect for the Counselor, maybe she wasn’t as soft as he thought. He returned to the center of the room and stood with his feet apart, in line with his shoulders and held the padding up so that it covered his torso. “Attack the pad,” he told Sheleah, raising his eyebrow at her, “I want to check your technique, I don’t want to be blamed by Sickbay if you accidentally break your wrist cause you don’t know how to punch,”
Fraiser Flynn, Sec
Sheleah looked around at the room again and decided to make a running start at this whole situation. She was a little better than she had let on, but definitely not up to his standards. A dancer’s balance gave her a bit of grace at making her running start. She had been taught Bao Quan, or at least the beginnings of it in her teen years. She hit the pad with a flurry of accurate but not powerful strikes with both hands before stepping back and attempting a smile. Hopefully she had made a good impression. She decided not to attempt to kick anything, yet.
- Sheleah
OOC: oops sorry I thought I had posted this.
IC: Flynn quirked an eyebrow, part of him was surprised to see Counselor strike with such velocity and accuracy. With a bit of refinement, she would certainly develop a good skill set, at least good enough to defend herself if she needed to, but not with those kitten licks she thought were punches.
“Those won’t even knock over a mouse out. The energy you expend is useless if you strike with no power. Imagine you are trying to punch through the bag. Focus on one punch at a time, I know you can hit your target, but you want to knock them over.”
Fraiser Flynn, Sec
