Allison Scott looked at her watch. She had sent a memorandum out several weeks ago to random crew members about the emergency preparedness medical drill. On the Ogawa, they had performed these drills a few times but every port was a medical emergency and no one tended to be shooting at them. On the Saracen, they had red alert drills for when people were shooting at them but never casualty drills. To her, this was the perfect combination of both and would give her staff a chance to see her not as the “other doctor” but the medical chief.

The alarm dinged on her watch and Ally hit the pre-recorded message programmed into the ship.

=/\=Lt. Tobias Rax=/\= The artificial voice piped through his comm badge. It carried the slightly up beat voice of a woman. =/\=The Emergency Preparedness Drill is now commencing. You have been assigned a tibial fracture. The tibia is the larger of the two bones in the lower leg and supports the majority of your body weight. It plays a vital role in proper body movement, especially for ankle and knee mechanics. When this vital bone is broken or cracked, it’s called a tibial fracture.
Typically, tibial fractures involve breaks due to traumatic injury. Your symptoms will vary depending on how bad the fracture is. To make this as realistic as possible, a list of symptoms for you to report are included below. You may experience:

intense pain in your lower leg
difficulty walking, running, or kicking
numbness or tingling in your foot
inability to bear weight on your injured leg
deformity in your lower leg, knee, shin, or ankle area
bone protruding through a skin break
limited bending motion in and around your knee
swelling around the site of your injury
bruising and blueness on your injured leg.

Tobias absorbed his role with eager anticipation, thrilled to participate in the medical emergency preparedness drills. Positioning himself strategically in one of the science labs, he aimed to elevate the complexity of the scenario, envisioning the chaos of an actual attack unfolding in the very space where he’d be stationed during such emergencies. As the computer finalised the setup, Tobias assumed a hunched position over a scientific desk, immersing himself in the role. The room had been meticulously prepared, complete with a sparking console, billowing smoke, and scattered debris—all rendered holographically using the portable devices ingeniously provided by the engineering team. To enhance the realism, he had even donned a uniform marred by burns and tears, applying makeup to mimic injuries.

“Computer, initiate Scenario,” Tobias commanded as the lights dimmed, casting the room in an ominous red hue indicative of a silent red alert.
