Following introduction with the chief science officer, Tobias had one final reporting obligation before a full 24 hours off. Now in sickbay, he patiently awaited the attention of an on-duty nurse or doctor. His proactive approach to completing check-ins early reflected his enthusiasm and commitment to professionalism, eager to acquaint himself with the ship and its systems during the upcoming time off.

“Rax. Tobias Rax,” a voice called out. Sick bay was never too busy however for some reason today there seemed to be a rush in the office. A woman in about her mid-thirties called out the name before replacing the donut back into her mouth.

A man next to Tobias raised his hand and started to stand up. It was clear he was going to try and pass off himself as the man the doctor was calling out. The reason was not obvious. He did not seem to be hurt at all. At a casual glance, it would seem that he just wanted to jump the line.

Tobias was on the verge of rising when the individual seated beside him initiated the first move. Rising in tandem, Tobias followed suit, his movements carrying a subtle awkwardness, possibly rooted in confusion. “Excuse me, sir,” Tobias ventured, his tone infused with a diplomatic touch and a hint of underlying anxiety.

“I believe there might be a miscommunication. The name called was Tobias Rax, and unless, in an exceedingly rare instance, we happen to share the same name, I believe the call was intended for me.”
