An unexpected overload had hit one of the consoles in Engineering. It was nothing too violent, a few sparks, but it was still enough to phase the Ensign who had previously been working at the stations.

Charles was kneeling next to it, access panel open. He squinted, looked around stroking his facial hair,

“I am impressed, the Federation designed fuses actually held for this once.” he commented.

Looking up at his colleague, he added a small laugh, “That is just a joke we have in small ship repair. Besides, you are a strong officer, you would have outlived their failure.”

Leaning in closer to get a better look inside, Charles began searching for a cause. Tool in hand, he began the standard procedure of ‘look around until you find something off’

“Should we… Shouldn’t we tell Ens- I mean, Acting Chief Engineer Ynuchausti?” the other Ensign suggested.

Jhalae’s PaDD beeped with the sound of the ship’s computer informing her of the situation in Engineering. Concern etched her face as she quickly made her way to the location.

Approaching the scene, she observed Ensign Charles-Louis with another engineer immersed in his diagnostic efforts. “What’s going on?” she inquired, her tone informal and filled with genuine curiosity.

“We are not quite sure yet,” Charles responded, still examining the console. “A small overload, could be anything. A loose connection, or a reversed coupling, something of that nature.”

The young NE timidly showed Jhalae the palm of his hand. The electric spark had left a small burn mark. “It kind of hurts still, should I go to sickbay?”

Charles let his opinion about that be known with a small chuckle from under the console.

Jhalae wasnt used to looking out for others or giving commands. She crouched down to get a closer look at the burn on the young Ensign’s hand, her expression shifting to concern. “You should definitely have that checked in sickbay. It looks pretty bad.

Straightening up, she focused on the ongoing diagnostics. “Ensign Charles-Louis, keep me posted on the situation. I know the Captain will eventually find out about this,” she said with a drifting thoughtful expression. “I want to be able to let him know it’s taken care of. Make sure you follow all the safety protocols. She looked at the Ensign who hurt his hand, you should have been wearing saftey gloves.” She said slightly narrowing her eyes at him.
