Alindor’s quarters
The Alindor’s walked and chatted about mundane things on the way to Jarred’s quarters. The weather, travel conditions, lack of peanuts and cold beverages on shuttles were the adult-dominated topics as the family took several hallways and turbo heading towards their destination. Their pace was substantially slower than needed due to Elizabeth’s dawdling the entire way. The little girl’s eyes were large and she clung onto Jarred’s hand like it was a lifeline. Many of the passing crew gave the chief odd looks or lingering nods as they watched him stride down the halls with the little girl in tow. For Elizabeth’s part, she tended to looked around and then down as the people passing looked at them. She was not shy in the least. Her grandpa joked that if you looked up the definition of adventurous and outgoing there would be a picture of Elizabeth Alindor. It was just a lot was going on today and as excited as she was to live with her Daddy on the new ship, Elizabeth was a little sad to be leaving her home, school, and friends. She just hoped people would not stop them right now. She wanted to see more of the ship with her Daddy: not talk and be polite to strangers. Each time someone passed, Elizabeth tightened her grip on Jarred’s hand until they were safely at his quarters.
As she walked in, Elizabeth smiled widely and ran across the room jumping up on the couch. “It looks like home Nana only I can’t see the lights from the city.” After pressing her face to the window, she looked back at Jarred. “Can we take a drive around the ship? PaPa used to take Nana and me all around Tycho on Sunday afternoons. We would get ice cream and sometimes go to the park. Can we do that Daddy?”
“Elizabeth, no standing on the furniture please,” Samantha said softly. This garnered a groan as she jumped up once more to land on her bottom. Using the cushions like a trampoline to propel her up again, Elizabeth was on her feet again looking around. “Do you have a dog?” Her tone was super excited and Elizabeth dropped to her knees slapping her legs and calling out ‘here puppy puppy’.
“I think she likes your quarters,” Samantha whispered to her son. She was thrilled that Elizabeth seemed to be happy with Jarred’s home. Samantha was just happy that it was this clean. She debated on how much of that was due to Kalani living there and cleaning up or her son wanting to impress Kalani so he cleaned up.
