Gazing at him with her almost electric blue eyes, Cori frowned slightly. “I don’t know,” she said softly. It was about as honest an answer she could give. It wasn’t that she hadn’t pondered things from time to time- she endless amounts of it and no need to sleep, after all- but it was simply that she hadn’t pushed herself to think of what might lie ahead. Her life had suddenly seemed to exist in some sort of cloudy free fall. There could be a bottom, but she couldn’t see the ground to know. She knew she missed Jarred, but she couldn’t bring herself to go see him, to intrude on his life where she wasn’t wanted anymore. Whatever he might have said about still being friends, it was clear he had moved on. But where that left her now she wasn’t sure. She did know that right now she wasn’t really sure that she had *anyone, not really.

“I wouldn’t…” Dalton shook her head, gazing off to the side a bit. “I wouldn’t mind getting off the ship sometime. The emitter should be okay as long as I’m careful. Bu it’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything but these hulls and the holodeck.” She could go anywhere on the holodeck, but it just wasn’t the same.

Sinclair didn’t move, his face remained passive. “Anywhere in particular strike your fancy? Or just somewhere… else? Somewhere not here?” he asked. He didn’t know for sure, but he at least suspected that her consciousness was giving the holographic image signals that could be interpreted as body language and facial expressions. He set that aside for the moment, and simply focused his efforts on her words.

She traced the line of her bottom lip as she pondered his very simple question. Did it matter? Cori wasn’t sure. She had no home- no place to return to that would feel like it anyway- and the Saracen has been as good as one. But how could a place be a home when it was simultaneously a psuedo-prison. She was free, and yet trapped. “Anyway,” she said at length. “Something different. Preferably where people won’t freak out if they realize I’m not exactly made of organic matter anymore, should it be an issue, but I honestly couldn’t care about those details at this point.”

There was a small upturn at the corner of Sinclair’s mouth, and he nodded. “Makes sense to me.” and he made a note. Looking up again, he said “What do you do for fun? Any hobbies? I ask because sometimes little things like that help me understand who an individual is at their core… regardless of where that ‘core’ is actually located.” he said with a small smile to let her know he wasn’t discounting her current state.

“Fun… well, there’s always swapping out people’s coffee for coconut water,” she deadpanned.

Cori shrugged. “I sometimes dance,” she said softly. “I learned ballet when I was a kid and I still love it now. it’s not the same of course, but I love dancing, any dance really.” For a moment she was taken back to dates on the holodeck with Alexander Romanov, a former Chief Tactical Officer who had connected with her with a similar sense of long-life angst. The Ancient had lived a long time already and seemed to understand her uncertainty about her new ‘life’. And thus he sought to bring some joy and happiness to hers. Dancing on the holodeck in a grand ballroom dressed in an elegant gown, she had felt so very special. Just as she had when Jarred had taken her to the ballet to see Swan Lake, her favourite production. Each instance of love had reminded her who she was, but it seemed to progressively have more limitations until she looked out on the ocean of possibilities and rather than see endless horizon, she saw the trap that was her life. Could she be loved? Yes. But they would never stay and she would always ultimately be alone. Well, fine then.
