Cori almost smirked. Almost. “Exactly what you think it was, a romantic relationship.” Her expression slipped into one more thoughtful and sad. “But… sometimes you can love someone and it’s not enough. For either of you.” She shrugged.

“That is too true, unfortunately. How long ago did this end? And is the person you were involved with still aboard?” Sinclair asked. Even such direct questions were delivered in a non-aggressive manner. Whether or not it was intentional, Sinclair did not seem to pry. He simply asked questions. Answers were up to the person being interviewed.

“A few months ago, and yes, they are still here.” Cori paused and seemed thoughtful. “It wasn’t a bad ending. Just sad I guess. It’s not the first relationship I’ve even had with a humanoid while I’ve been in my current state. Both have taught me that there are likely to be far more partings for me than most.”
