Later the same day of Siarram’s meeting with the Captain, he was in the gym on the work out mats, with one of Security’s target dummies. Martial arts was a great way to blow off steam, which was, frequently necessary for him. The mix of Andorian and Vulcan made for explosive emotions that needed responsible management. Martial arts was how Siarram chose to deal with the more explosive emotions, which was exactly what he was dealing with now. A robot… it was offensive on behalf of his Vulcan family, and though the Captain had said it ‘to see who he was’ it was not a good enough answer for Siarram. True to his Andorian nature, there was a grudge to be had, furthered by the insinuation that if he hadn’t been angered by the ‘robot’ comment, he’d have been a ‘spineless yes man’. Who did the Captain think he was?

A few punches later, and he was feeling much calmer, more level headed. He’d already been here about twenty minutes. When he was finished, he’d cap it off with a round of meditation. Cool off, then level himself out. It was the way he practiced, to keep things manageable. He paused for a break, sitting down and taking a drink out of his water.

The doors to the gym slipped open and the security chief entered. She was wearing a solid black gi, sans belt (no showing off or grand standing here) and pink tightly woven cotton hand wraps that made a nice solid smack as she clapped her hands together and flexed her hands into firsts. Her blonde hair was tightly braided back from her face and she was barefoot. She made her way over to the last of the heavy canvas bags and punched it lightly twice. Then her stance dropped, finding her own center of gravity and she lashed out at the bag. A quick hard jab followed not by a cross but a hard elbow right where the temple of an opponent would be, hard enough to send the chains holding the bag to rattling. There was no stop and reset, she just kept going. Jabs, crosses, hooks, ox-jaws (that left a small hole and sand poured out), elbows, thrusts, snaps, knees, round houses. The bag swayed and spun, lifted and dropped on it’s chains. She moved as the bag did, but never more than she needed to, hitting the same target spot over and over again. There was no flashy moves, no ‘kia’s’, just the sound of pounding fists and feet and controlled exhalation of breath.

It was always good for the CoS to be seen working out, keeping her own skills sharp, not just leading training sessions. Today though, Brenna was irritated, and needed a target for the one she had yet to identify after having completely ripping apart her shuttle. That just irritated her more and she struck the bag so hard with an elbow strike that it weakened the heavy canvas.

Siarram was not one for the flashy moves or theatric ‘kia’ing and grunting either, but Brenna’s moves were flashy just by being the wayt they were. Nonstop and intense, making a lot of noise as she jostled the bag. He found himself watching intently, seeing how she moved. Then he turned away, refocusing himself on his own, and began hitting his own target bag again. He wasn’t as good as Brenna, he wasn’t formally trained in self defense. For him, it was more of a way to manage emotions. It seemed she was using it that way too, despite clear and extensive self defense and hand to hand combat training, so he figured he’d leave her alone unless she decided to speak to him.
