“Well if something does go boom we have state of the art burn chambers in sickbay. We’ll get you taken care of....” Hannah turned to look toward one of the tube shooting off from the junction. She bent low to look in, “Is that a…dog?”

A large black nose poked out followed by a narrow nose and a long pink tongue lolling out of a mouth. A thick furred quadruped jumped out followed by two more. One white and grey, one white and black, and the third white and brown. Followed by the security chief. “Oh, hello Lt Ch’thaanaq.” She looked around, “And you must be Dr Asimina.”

“With any luck, that won’t be…” Siarram trailed off as Hannah turned and then two large quadruped animals came bounding out of one of the tubes followed by the security chief. Siarram looked alarmed and awed. “And what are those? Who’s allowing animals on starships?”

Brenna laughed, “Animals have always been welcome on star ships. At first only to study but now as pets. Have you seen the captain’s giant monitor lizard?” The black and white husky found Asimina particularly interesting and was making friends. The other two stood near Brenna looking around curiously. “These are dogs from Earth. Specifically Siberian huskies. They are actually working dogs and carried a rank of private until recently discharged. We were just practicing some skills. I must have taken a wrong turn, I thought this area was empty.”
