Snip

The hail came back quickly, an excitable-sounding female voice on the other end. =^= Skybase to Saracen, you are most welcome! Instructions on a flight approach vector will be sent to your vessel post-haste, and you will be welcomed aboard Skybase and to Galdor. Regulations for your visit will be sent, please read with care and try not to break the rules.=^=

Moments later a second message was sent. The rules were short. =^=Firstly and most importantly, non-Skybase teleportation technology will not be used except for in the case of emergency. Secondly, please treat the places you visit like a national park. Do not take things from the ground, and do not leave litter or other garbage outside provided trash receptacles. That’s all, actually. Thanks for visiting Galdor.=^=

Gavain

“Thats it?” Dante said, looking up at Gavain. “Well, it looks like transporters are out, helm, take us in on the provided co-ordinates and Mr Gavain, if you would be so kind as to issue those rules to all personnel and let the Department Heads know that shore leave is granted, as per the Department Heads discretion. Do we wear Dress uniform for what is about to happen Lieutenant?”

Captain Knight, CO

Gavain nodded and started sending out the message to general ship, specifically to the transporter chiefs. He knew that rule would be in effect, since this was the planet he grew up on. “It might be appropriate, sir,” he agreed with a small nod. He was looking forward to seeing the other Galdori officers who would be on the other arriving vessels, swapping anecdotes of living among humans, and other such fun activities.

The approach coordinates were easy enough to follow, and they were soon docked and cleared for boarding Skybase. Gavain accompanied Captain Dante and the selected senior staff to the docking port where they would walk from the Saracen onto Skybase.

Gavain

Shrugging his shoulders a little, Dante had always found the Dress Uniforms to be a little tight and stiff for his liking, but suffering them was usually short lived and necessary. He paused at the door to the docking port and turned back to the Officers and smiled at Gavain. “Best behavior” he said, “We don’t want to give a bad appearance and bring the Saracen into disrepute with the other ships being here.” He smirked slightly and nodded for Gavain to do the honors and lead them out.

Captain Knight, CO

Satreya joined them with her dress uniform immaculate. She could only hope this went better than the last time there was a formal diplomatic style meeting of another species. The whole thing with the Flea’tan had been odd at best and tragic at worst and she definitely didn’t want to see a repeat. “And sully the ship’s goo name? Never,” Boja teased. “Besides, if we managed that I somehow think Dalton… Sarah?… I think she’d take it personally and I don’t want to be the one to deal with that,” she slightly teased dante.

The doors opened, and Gavain stepped forward. He didn’t wear the exact Starfleet dress uniform, having opted for a slightly more traditional Galdori styled uniform. It was still Starfleet made and was the right colour for his rank and station, with the pips and combadge attached, but was styled more like a robe, with a thick strip of material coming off the right shoulder of the shirt to wrap across the midsection and under the left arm, pinned in the back and falling down over his tail.

It was much more comfortable than Captain Knight’s uniform.

“Quick question Gavain… you seem okay with it, but your people in general: yay or nay on telepaths? If I should conceal it, please tell me now so I don’t accidentally cause a scene,” Boja said rather seriously.

Gavain stepped into the corridor of SkyBase, and seemed to change his gait slightly. The human officers would soon find out why, as the moment they stepped onto the station they would feel a slight decrease in gravity. Gavain walked easier in the lighter gravity. It wasn’t much of a difference, 9.4 instead of 9.8, so it wasn’t noticeable after the first moment or two.

On the other side of the doors, there stood an old looking Laleri. Their fur was a medium brown, but peppered with grey hairs. They were hunched over slightly, using a walking stick, and one eye had an opaque pupil and didn’t seem to track with the other eye. Despite all this, the alien was dressed very well, and the rank-markings on their shoulder. “Welcome to Galdor, esteemed guests,” the Laleri spoke in common, but with a heavy accent, the higher pitched voice revealing that the individual in question was likely female. “I am Controller Vik,” she said, the word sounding like “veek.”

Her right hand lifted, and she performed a salute that Gavain mirrored. Palm on the chest, then extended out in a graceful motion towards those before her, particularly towards the highest ranking member of the opposite group. “May your hearts beat strongly, and your love grow wide,” she spoke as she performed the action, then pulled her hand back, folding her hands in front of herself. Knight might find it difficult not to notice that, much like his operations officer, the Laleri had only three fingers and a thumb on each of his hands, although the left hand seemed to have even one of these fingers half missing, the pointer finger only having two out of three bones.

Gavain

Satreya watched, keeping silent so as to not do anything to compromise this crucial first impression.
