The newly arrived Chief of Weapons Control strode through the passageways of the IRW Rovarran, ahoulders back and head high. He was an imposing figure… broad-shouldered and muscular; but it was how he carried himself that made individuals move out of his way. He had an air of authority… physicality… inflexibility… and menace. Rumors about him had already made their way to the ship before him. He had tried to murder a previous Commanding Officer. He had shoved one of a pair of suspects into an airlock and then spaced them to force a confession from the other. He had ordered wave after wave of Security officers to attack the bridge of a Federation vessel, resulting the total loss of his personnel… but they took the ship.As he stepped onto the bridge, he looked at each station individually; obviously judging the quality of the individual stationed at them. He then turned and walked to the door, pressing the call to inform the Commander of his arrival.

The voice of the Rovarran’s commanding officer called through the closed door a moment later “Enter”. The inside of the office was a fairly traditional office space for Romulan Commanders, with a desk with two chairs for guests, a low sofa for informal conversations in one corner, and a mostly empty bookcase in the other. She had clearly moved in recently as the bookcase was mostly empty although in one of the glass displays there was an older model medical kit with the hand scanner and hypospray next to it. The main oddity was the desk, it was not the standard Keldrak design but something brought in. Drunis would recognize the design as something used on older turn-of-the-century medical frigates that had been decommissioned in the last few decades.
Sitting behind the desk, leaning in her chair and reading something on her console was the ship’s Commander, a woman in her middle years nearing the end of her first century. Her hair was long and straight, a style that had not been popular on Romulus in decades not like the popular close cut and precision haircuts the modern Imperial Military used. She smiled politely as she looked up from her console “Centurion Drunis, welcome to the Rovarran” She indicated one of the chairs opposite her desk.

Drunis took in the office while focusing on the woman before him. “Commander Purola.” he said in way if acknowledging the officer. He took the seat she indicated and said “Congratulations, Commander, on your appointment. I look forward to serving you and the Empire here.”

Purola inclined her head in acknowledgment “And I you” She spoke softly with the calm the often followed experience “You have a most impressive record Centurion Drunis” She had to look up even when seated but did so only with her eyes “I can’t say I’m a fan of having a Major, inactive or otherwise, assigned to my ship but I suspect you’ll be worth it” She didn’t name the Tal’Shiar but the rank was enough, toeing the line of propriety “But I’m also less inclined to having the Senate involving themselves directly in fleet business so with that in mind consider yourself welcome” She smiled again “But that’s no matter for discussion, have you spent any time on a Keldrak Crusier before?” She asked.
Commander Purola - CO
Drunis smiled a somewhat predatory smile and said “It is fortunate, then, that my assignment here was done through Admiral C’stuh, and no one else. As far as I am aware, Commander, the Senate does not involve itself directly in my postings.” and the smile slid away, replaced by stoic professionalism. “To answer your question, I must say no; I have never been assigned to one before. That being said, I have studied the layout of the Rovarran in detail. I am confident that I will be able to deal with any internal issues efficiently. I am also more than proficient and familiar with the weapon systems this vessel possesses. You are in competent hands, Commander.”

Drunis’ earlier remark only received a slightly raised eyebrow, barely a twitch “I look forward to seeing you in action.” She looked at her console for a moment “Your records don’t state a military background, was the fleet always an ambition of yours?” She asked with genuine curiosity “I know for some fleet service is just a stepping stone for a political career but they don’t have this service record” She indicated the screen, she didn’t even have most of the information, being a recently promoted Commander she hadn’t yet been granted her full security clearance, that combined with her common background meant that her unexpected promotion was not a priority beyond the standard necessities.

“Quite the contrary, Commander.” Drunis replied. “I attended both the Imperial Military and Fleet Academies, studying Secuurity and Intelligence at both. As for politics, I think it best to leave that to the ones who are… averse… to getting their hands dirty in service to the Empire.” He smiled slightly. “What is it the humans say? ‘Those who can, do. Those who cannot, give speeches.’ Or something to that effect, at any rate.”
Drunis, CWpC
Purola blinked at the human quote, she wasn’t overly familiar with human culture but it didn’t surprise her to find that Drunis was familiar with some aspects of their culture. She suspected she was one of the few on the ship who had actually met a human nearly sixty years prior when she was a Lieutenant on the Nuldul just a few years before the signing of the Treaty of Algernon. “An apt quotation,” She said simply “Since you’ve familiarized yourself with the Rovarran do you have any plans for alterations in security protocols or team placements?” She asked, medicine being her main expertise she had no specific thoughts on how Security and weapons should be run beyond what her command training and limited experience gave her.

Drunis nodded and said “Yes, Commander. I believe until such a time as the crew has been fully vetted that there should be security at all critical areas and two guards on the bridge at all times. As we begin to become more acclimated to one another and any problematic personnel have been reassigned or removed, then we can scale back.”
Drunis, CWpC
Purola nodded. She didn’t really have experience in making direct decisions regarding security matters so throughout her career she’d lean on those with the correct experience. “Prioritise checks on those with higher ranks and longer service records followed by those with the shortest.” She said after a moment “Those will be the hardest to remove if necessary. Any recent graduates or fresh Officers will have connections to be assigned to a vessel as fresh as this one” She smiled a smile that didn’t reach her eyes “But I guess I shouldn’t be telling a Mogai how to fly” A saying common in her village, only slightly less common than saying Teaching your grandmother to skin a Ter’ak in the same situation but that wasn’t considered polite in higher Romulan society “Beyond adjustments to our Security profiles do you have any thoughts you’d like to share with me?”

Commander/Chief Of Medical Control IRW RovarranDrunis said simply “Not at this time, Commander. But I will ensure you have a complete status report as soon as possible.”
Drunis, CWpC
Purola nodded again “Excellent, I look forward to seeing your work” Her tone decidedly neutral “Unless you have anything further you’d like to discuss consider yourself welcomed to the IRW Rovarran Centurion Drunis. Get yourself familiarized with your station and personnel as soon as you can, I’d like to run a combat simulation before we receive our first orders.”
