“CHOO!” A Uhlan sneezed from the back of the group. Despite trying to muffle it, the sound seemed much louder than it probably was.

Nameless Uhlan

The sudden sneeze of the Uhlan caused a few hidden birds nearby to take flight into the air, about 9 in total. One or two hung around in the air circling to caw or squack annoyingly at the team before circling away and going elsewhere. Meanwhile about this point the team had gathered enough local samples from the plants and such nearby that they could move on to another objective. Though they all again felt a slight itchiness and tickle in their noses from the work. Maybe it was just something irritatingly in the air?

GM CockRoach

Rul was scanning for mineral deposits and mapping potential sites for further investigation when he tried to clear his throat and looked at the other team members. “Does anyone else feel like they have something in their throat and nose?” and he ran a quick scan of himself, cross-referencing results with the scan data from the plants near them.

Rul, CWC

First base scans on deposits came back showing various raw minerals like gold, silver, iron, and others that would be priority interests for deeper scans were a bit ways north of their current location up near a higher hill range about 5-6 (romulan equivalent of miles) away. The scans seemed promising to follow up on.

Narva started to feel a tingle on the back of his head. He started with a light scratching. “No not yet, but I’m itchy. Does it have anything to do with that bloody plant?”

SubCmdr Narva

Purola joined Rul in the scanning effort for their crew.

Scans on themselves showed their bodies were reacting in one form or another to an allergen. Likely pollen from the nearby bushes which had tiny flower petals. It seems it caused various irritants to Romulan skin and other body reactions.

But no sooner had those results come in when the brush around them crew quite silent suddenly, a predator to the local wildlife it seems had come calling, perhaps drawn here by the strange intruders to its domain.

GM CockRoach

Rul drew his disruptor and waited, his ears listening and his eyes looking for movement around them.

Rul, CWC

Purola glacned at the Weapons Chief draw his weapon but didn’t draw her own, continuing to work on the data her tricorder had spat out.

Listening all that Rul and the others could hear was the faint rustle and weaving of plants around them and the larger trees above. The animals though were still quiet, something had spooked them and it most likely was not the Ulan’s sneeze.

Suddenly a bush rustled a bit more and a 3 inch thick vine whipped out with a loud cracking sound, the Ulan in question staggered as three thick barbed thorns stuck in his neck and left lower cheek. A few seconds later his throat seemed to swell and he was clutching at his neck as clearly his air ways had swelled to the point where he couldnt breathe.....

It seemed the plant/plants were attacking them??

GM CockRoach

“Covering fire” Purola called as she went down next to the injured Uhlan, she used one hand to scan the man and with the other she drew her sidearm, trusting her new crewmates to deal with the assaulting plants.

Centurion Purola CMC

Another Uhlan moved to cover them, firing at the space where he saw the vine come from.

Nameless Uhlan #2

What was going on here. Were the plants sentient. If it were so; they weren’t staying. Narva unholstered his disruptor. “Once he ready to move. We’re getting away from here.”
