Rh’vaurek was, as usual, impressed with the workmanship of the Keldrak class. They managed to fit a large amount of facilities and resources into a rather small space, as their philosophy on efficiency always provided. He stepped out of the lift and surveyed the bridge. He’d arrived before any of the permanent crew, to inspect the ship and ensure everything was in working order. The temporary crew, that ran the space trials and calibrated most of the systems, still moved about the bridge, finishing their last tasks before the official handover. The Rovarran was a fascinating little ship, that was for sure. Rh’vaurek remembered the talks about it’s construction during his last few assignments, rumors travel fast in the Empire. He pulled himself out of his thoughts as he took the step up to the center chair, resting one hand on it. This was his first command assignment, and there was still the fluttering anticipation that he’d felt decades ago when he first enrolled at the Academy.
“Commander Deletham, sir. We are just about finished with the calibrations and minor repairs, and we need you on the station for handoff.” The voice of an Uhlan came through the overhead comm system, and Rh’vaurek reached over and pressed the button on the arm of the chair, responding. “Affirmative. I’m on my way.” With one last look at the darkened bridge, and the Romulan and Reman workers finishing up there, he turned and went back to the lift, keying in for the lower decks, anticipating the handoff ceremony.

Arriving from afar, Karek saw the large ship. While it was smaller than the D’deridex class of ships that the Rovarran was often compared to, it was still the largest ship that Karek would serve on. He had not yet set foot on it, but he had studied its layout carefully. He had been approached by Commander Deletham only weeks before with the offer to serve as the ship’s chief of weapons control. As such, he had paid extra attention on how the ship might attack and defend itself, as well as going over general security in the ship itself. One could never be certain where traitors might be…
This would be Karek’s first command posting. He felt the excitement in his gut, a feeling that soon was replaced by pride, and then moments later, nervousness. He was nervous – it was a sign this posting mattered to him and that he felt the need to do a good job. He wanted to make his parents pride – he was their only surviving son – and he wanted to make the Empire proud, too.
All would be well. He rolled back his shoulders, straightened his back, as he got closer to the mighty ship that he would soon call home. Soon there would be the inauguration ceremony of this mighty ship, and he looked forward to it. All good things need celebration. If birthed in passion, it will live in passion. This was true for people as well as for ships.

Kad’n Rul sat in the far back of the shuttle that carried mostly civilians towards the station. As they got closer, a few started whispering about the brand new Imperial Warbird docked there. He looked up and out of the viewport. The Keldrak ship was gleaming bright green in the starlight and artificial lights of the station. It was a beautiful ship, yes… but the sight brought the Romulan Navy officer little joy.
Not long ago, this may have been his ship to command… not that the idea of command appealed to him. The shuttle docked and he stood up, a passerby nodded at him and said “Serve well, Centurion.” and walked away. Centurion. The rank still caused his jaw to clench. He hadn’t done anything wrong. The demotion from Subcommander and a year in the Reeducation Center had not changed his mind on that… no matter what he told the Supervisors. He moved off the shuttle and made his way to the gangway to where the Rovarran was docked. He stopped at the security checkpoint as the three officers verified his credentials. =/\= Centurion Rul. Chief of Warbird Control, IRW Rovarran =/\= the computer said. The lead officer said “Welcome, Centurion. The ceremony will be starting in a little while. You are seated with the Command crew at-” and Rul cut him off with a gesture. “I will not be attending. I have much to do onboard.” The statement was true, but the reality was twofold. Secondarily, he hated ceremonies. They were a waste of time. But primarily, he had a reputation now. And that reputation would be on display at the ceremony if he sat there for the handover. The guard simply nodded and said “Very well. To your duties then, Centurion Rul.” Rul lifted his bag and walked past the checkpoint and made his way towards the ship.
