USS Brian A. Olinski

Main Engineering, Current timeline

OOC: I wanted to give engineering the chance to become involved either vicariously through the ships internal sensors and communications or directly if something were to happen. I hope I got everything right!

Ever since crewmen were being found unconscious or succumbing to what she could only describe herself as mine control Vega had ordered a temporary lockdown of engineering, and all systems requiring two-person verification to ensure that whatever was happening or whoever was trying to mess with her ship. Nobody but engineering personnel were allowed in critical areas such as the computer cores, main engineering, and the core ejection pistons. There was, she hoped no chance that anyone would be able to cause significant damage to the ship.

This, of course, meant everyone in her department was pulling double shifts to ensure every engineering sensitive location was manned by at least two people and in turn, putting a huge strain on her manpower but to protect this ship to Vega it was a small price to pay. She herself hadn’t left engineering since the first victim had fallen ill and opted for short, very short naps in her office or taking adrenaline-inducing drugs to keep her awake and alert.

The chief was currently sat at a control console watching as the scenes in the docking bay unfolded when the metal rod rolled across the floor and subsequently beamed away she was beginning to wonder if it was the entity people expected to be causing the issues or if this was some sort of ancient weapon or relic that had some kind of mind-altering abilities, but she was no doctor, she didn’t however like the idea of using the ships transporter systems beaming the rod anywhere on the ship. Her thinking behind it was that deconstructing the molecular makeup could accidentally put the transporter system itself at risk, all these thoughts were too late however because the rod was gone and now in the brig.

She turned away from the console to scan engineering, everyone was still working either maintaining the warp cores reaction, running diagnostics, and just going about their business, nobody seemed aware of what was going on except her. What she was really doing was seeing if anyone was acting different or suspicious. That was her job now, being chief took away some of the fun at times but it did mean she had a greater understanding of what was happening ship-wide. She just hoped that what was occurring in the shuttle bay and now the brig wouldn’t affect her in Main Engineering.
