Just to clarify. In the sim Doolittle is still the CMO. So we can say that the new CMO was going to be inactive until the mission ended and function like a Dr. This would explain where he has been the whole time and in your check in you can indicate your a CMO in training so you will not be taking the reins right away since your out of the Academy and fresh.

In the current sim I will be having Doolittle kind of throw on the towel so to speak and hand the job off to you. So be ready for this. Hope this helps.
