“Voice contact with the pilots and runabout now.” Sidney ordered. Realistically this is why the team went first. They could not risk the whole ship. However he needed something to go on before ordering actions.

“Any data to help us?” He asked out loud.

Parker CO

“Scanning.”

They were not able to get any more information with their sensors at the distance they were in with the microwave being the ‘loudest’ thing the sensors were detecting at the moment.

=^=Ric, I’ve got a problem. I’ve been locked out of my systems, or locked on to, or… something,=^= =^= You guys should back off..=^=, =^=don’t get caught…=^=

“Oh, oh.” Kolar looked up, “They are out of tractor and transporter range… The shuttle should still be in range.”

=^=Olinski, this is Ricochet. Green Leader has been caught in a microwave field being generated from the planet. We were trying to follow it to its source when she got plucked. We’ve lost all contact with her. Chances are, that’s the same thing that has happened to the Dragoon. Scanning for life signs on Green Leaders bird.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

The Captain had heard Ric tell Mirri to beam Sehlat out. He waited for her to do that. There was a feeling of panic starting to develop among a few. It was not something the Captain allowed himself to do. He had to remain calm and even patient in the face of adversity. They knew this was a possibility.

“Kolar can we get a round about fix on the microwave source location? Security can we fire a beam from here to there to try and take what ever it is out?” He asked.

A good offense makes for a good defense as well.

Parker CO

“In the 1960 and 70, old calendar, there was a device called an Anti-radiation missile. It homed in on the transmissions of a detection/projection device creating an unerring missile. The only defense was to turn off the system.. but even if you did… the missile would usually remember.” He typed as he spoke. The system design popped up on the screen as he worked along.

“I can set that up on a photon torpedo.” He could switch the radiation type to microwaves quite easily…

OOC: Presuming the GM agrees…

“Done and done… anti microwave torpedoes at your command.”

The plan felt risky. “Alternatively, we can fire a beam, but I can’t pinpoint the precise location of the microwave emitters.” In all honesty he didn’t like the idea of shooting anything at the surface without more information. He thought about what had transpired on their last mission before deciding to speak up a bit more, “Sir, firing anything risks the chance of harming lifeforms on the planet, local or from the Dragoon… supposing that is where they are. There is the possibility that whomever is utilizing those microwaves did not intend to harm us.”

As he allowed the bridge crew to come to a decision, he kept his eyes on the locations of the fighter wing pilots… it seemed that they were continuing to move in closer to the planet.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“Load the torpedo but stand by for my order to fire.” Sid ordered.

“I’m not hearing too many other options.” He said out loud. He was not going to allow his people to get pulled into who knows what. However this was part of the reason they had done what they had done.

“We could use the main deflector dish to broadcast a jamming frequency to counter the microwaves,” Jason suggested a little too late.

=^=Ric if you can hear us we have a microwave enabled torpedo ready to fire on the coordinates of that beam. I need something from you guys.=^=

The COS gritted his teeth as he executed the order, “modified torpedo loaded.”

“Using the line of power loss, we can approach the planet and possibly transport the crew of the fighters out of danger.” Kolar could come up with options… some good others bad.

Kolar CSO

The ship was able to link with the sensors on the fighter, and they showed that the pilot (Xandra) that was affected had strong life signs. Curiously, there did not seem to be an external interference over the control of the fighter.

“Fighter board systems seem to read normal.” He continued to work. “If i can get the access code through, maybe we can pilot the ship remotely.” Kolar wasn’t much of a pilot. In fact he might be the single worse pilot on the ship, the only skill he had worse then his driving was his shooting of hand weapon.... but in this case all he was trying to do was turn the ship 180 degrees about… that was just like spinning a dial. Even he could do that competently.

=^=Roger that, skipper. I’m transmitting the approximate size of the dead zone where Green Leader and the Dragoon are caught. You should be able to approach within 5000 meters. The rest of the fighters are trying to get a closer look at where the microwaves are coming from. Once you’re in range, we’ll transmit that info to you to get a better shot off. Copy?=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

Jason let out a breath. The gambit had worked, but now it was time to figure out what the damage was. “Try to raise the Dragoon,” he ordered. “Let’s find out if there’s anybody alive in there.”

As the COS waited on additional coordinates from the CAG, he sent out a hail to the Dragoon. He was interested in seeing if the hail would even be recognized the dead vessel. “Hailing her now Commander.”

COS Ch’zaolrirh

There was no reply from the Dragoon. The systems were offline and there was no life signs.

The fighter was still moving towards the planet but the sensors could not detect any external influences on the systems of the fighters.

“Can we take control of Green Leader’s fighter using its prefix code?” Jason asked. “If Xandra is unconscious, maybe we can fly it be remote control.”

“Helm bring us to 6000 meters of the microwave zone identified by the CAG. Tac once we reach that range fire the microwave torpedo. (This missile will launch a counter-microwave burst but no explosion)

The Captain was ready for action and swiftly.

“I think we may be dealing with a psionic weapon here. For all intentes that fighter pilot should be able to control that ship. So the only reason I can see for it still moving forward is that the pilot is still moving it forward without being able not too.” He surmised.

“Science start setting up a counter measure to that beam. We cannot keep shooting torpoedos is that works. Do the modification to the dish if that is our best possible alternative. I want to board the Dragoon with a science and engineering team and we cant do that if they get caught back up in the beam.”
