“What’s going on?” Jason frowned. “I was only gone for a minute!”

Kolar shrugged, “Hell if I know, Sir.”

“We have a potential contagion aboard the ship,” Toro replied. “We have multiple people in various parts of the ship that have collapsed with their eyes open,” she continued. =^=Medical teams stand by for wounded,=^= she said as she opened a ship wide communication. =^= Transporter room locate the crew that have fallen and transport directly to sickbay.=^=

Lieutenant Michaels stood up and headed towards the turbolift. “I’ll go down to Sickbay to see if I can be of any use…” Trevor said. “Hopefully this isn’t an illness…” The Counselor added as he disappeared into the turbolift.

“Be sure bio-containment is in effect.” Kolar offered.

Toro stood up and returned the Conn to Harn “I am going to start an internal scan to see if we have an actual contagion or if it is something else.” She said as she moved to her station, she also began working on other incidents similar to this in history, if there were any.

CIO

“Right!” Jason exclaimed as he snapped his fingers. “And I’m going to contact the Sierra. If they don’t have anyone who has symptoms, you can bet your life that they’ve got a carrier onboard. We have to make sure that transport doesn’t get to Starbase 257 before they start quarantine procedures!”

OOC: The timing of this story is either really good or really bad considering what’s going on in the world. I didn’t need spellcheck to tell me how to spell “quarantine.”

OOC: Trust me. The sim’s plan was done months ago. I didn’t think you would go so far as to quarantine the Sierra. :)

IC:

“I still have them on sensors. We certainly could run them down if we wanted to. It also could be the two people we beamed aboard. If it affected us this quickly the whole transport should have been ill.”

Kolar.

“Who says they aren’t?” Jason shrugged as he strode to an console being operated by a young Bollian. “Ensign, Hail the Sierra. We need to find out if the Sierra is having the same crisis we are.”

“Aye-aye sir. Hailing the Sierra now.”

The Sierra responded and answered the hail.

“On screen,” Jason ordered as he strode back to the CO’s chair. “This is Commander Jason Harn of the USS Brain A. Olinski. I need to report a medical emergency that I believe may be present on your ship as well.”

=^=Several people aboard this ship have collapsed and were found lying on the deck with their eyes open,=^= Jason replied with a tiny hint of an apology. =^=We don’t know if we’ve spread it to your ship or if our people picked it up from the planet. It could have been something we picked up at Starbase 257 or it could have been none of those things. We’ll send you more data as we get it but in the meantime it wouldn’t hurt to have your medical officer check your people out.=^=

OOC: Jason isn’t hanging up the phone until he gets an acknowledgement from the Sierra’s CO.

Kolar shrugged, Harn was well within his rights as CO to quarantine the Sierra if he saw fit and for safeties’ sake it was the most prudent course even though logic suggested that the issue was Olinski based… The first location of the infection was likely the source and that was the Olinski.

Toro continued looking through the database for anything that might be similar to what they were experiencing at this time. She also reached out to various contacts in the medical field to see if they had heard anything like these symptoms. (GM: She is asking specifically about symptoms that we have currently and if there have been any other outbreaks similar to this in the past.)

The CIO found several incidents in the database that were similar to what was happening. Some were single cases where only one in a community or starship. These were psychiatric in nature. Narrowing down to situations were there were multiple cases within a community, planet or starship, she found two cases. One had occurred 74 years before on a starship and it was found to be the invasion of a alien virus. The virus attacks the brain and cause a shut down of the brain. It was transmitted via contact. The infected person must have touch the face of another to infect. The other case was a recent one where four people in the Gara Colony (about 7 light years from their present location) were found to be in a similar state. There was no indication how it happened. The four people in the Colony knew each other but there was no other link to show why they ended up so. The only medical characteristic was that they had unusual electropathic residue readings.
