IC: “I believe,” said Whitney a little haughtily, “that my helmsman is quite capable of getting the Sierra off this planet. I am sure that any of my crew would be able to handle a shuttle should you believe that your helmsman would be able to do a better job.” Then looking a little regretful, he continued, “I would not chase you off my ship. If you have so little confidence in my crew, I would permit your helmsman to standby should there be any problems. Of course, we could transport anyone to your shuttle so that it would not be abandoned on this planet. I would also like to extend my thanks personally to your Commanding Officer once we are off the planet.”

Mirri looked at Kolar and Whitney “I will go back to the shuttle.” She said deciding the question “Kolar do you want the doctor to come back with me or keep him here?” She asked as she prepared to head back to the shuttle.

Helm

“Thank you lieutenant. I’ll keep the doctor here, with Captain Whitney’s permission.” He paused for a moment for Whitney to express his opinion.

Whitney nodded his approval.

“Get back to the shuttle and fly support. I’d like to have an outside view on the silica in the engines.” Kolar smiled at the helms officers. “I’m sure you will do well.”

=^=Olinski to Kolar. Do you want us to act as a relay to Star Fleet Command for the Sierra to let them know that they are okay?=^= She asked

Kolar again looked the Whitney… “It’s your report, although one way or another we will have to notify them that you’ve been located.”

“Yes,” said Whitney. “Please send them what you need to send. When we get to orbit, I will inform Starfleet as well.”

Speaking of Starfleet, it was then that the Olinsiki decided to contact him.

=^=Captain Whitney is going to send his own report. We can indicate that we located the Sierra on the surface and are in the process of evaluating her return to orbit. There were no significant reported issues and we are taking two ill passengers aboard. =^=

=^=Mister Balfor, are you ready to report?=^= Jason’s voice chimed in. =^=We haven’t heard a lot from either you or the Sierra. Any reason for the communications blackout?=^=

Jason Harn, aCO, who apparently doesn’t know that the transporter room has been contacted to beam up two patients.

=^=The Sierra is attempting to return to orbit now… I haven’t intended any communication black out. Lawrence is commanding the shuttle, the rest of us are remaining on the Sierra in support.=^=

=^=I guess the fault is on our end, Mister Balfor,=^= Jason admitted. =^=When we received no answer to our hails we assumed their communications were out. This entire time we assumed that when they had communications operational, we would hear from them. Let me know when you wish to beam up or if you intend to return by shuttle. Olinski out.=^=

The Sierra reached orbit and Whitney reported in to Starfleet HQ their situation and there was a short tense moment when he was told that he had to report to his superior for a debrief. As the CO leaned back on his chair, his face had the ‘O well…’ look.

Kolar tilted his head sympathetically. Nobody liked talking to the boss, but Whitney had put his ship on the deck, failed to report the issue, and had a star-ship pulled out of patrol to find them… that wasn’t going to go unnoticed.

The Sierra hailed the Olinski with the CO giving this message, =/\=USS Brian Olinksi, this is Captain Whitney of the USS Sierra. Please accept my thanks for the aid that you have provided my crew and me.=/\=

Kolar looked at him.. there was no reason to stay… “With your permission?” he questioned and paused.

Mirri headed back to the shuttle and prepared to take off and provide support once they were back in the air.

Kolar was not a paranoid man by nature. He did, however, dislike unsolved mysteries… Captain Whitney had not explained to his satisfaction why he put his ship on the deck. But since everyone seemed fine and the ship was about to go back on its way… Whitney did not owe him an explanation… so.. it was what it was.
