=^=Balfor to Olinski, Everything seems to be moving along Commander. The Captain reported he landed to effect repairs and that the storm clogged his intakes and made the procedure more difficult. The landing team is assisting where ever possible and there a few caualties… the doctor is reviewing them.=^=

I don’t see how that will be a problem.=^= Kolar continued talking as if the Commander had asked him a completely different question. He also walked away from the Captain on the transport and reset the audio so it only went to his ear.

The science officer heard a pause as the wheels turned in Jason’s head. =^=I see, well give me a call when you have something to report,=^= the first officer said in that casually informal manner of his. =^=Harn out.=^=

After about twenty minutes, the engineers outside reported in, =/\=We have cleared the bulk of the sand. I believe that we are clear to start engines and get out of here.=/\=

The CO looked puzzled, =/\=I thought the time was closer to 2 hours the last time you reported.=/\=

=/\=With the Olinski crew helping out, we were able to clear most of the sand.=/\=

=/\=Most?=/\= asked the CO with eyebrows raised.

=/\=Rather than clearing every grain, I have run a simulation and it would save us time if we lifted off and then the vibration of the engines would then shake the sand out of the smaller crevices.=/\=

=/\=What are the possible dangers to this plan?=/\= asked the CO.

=/\=Well, there is a 4% chance that some of the silicon might change to glass adhering to the bulkhead instead of coming out of the exhaust.=/\=

=/\=Have you consulted Lt. Gould?=/\=

Captain Whitney turned to the Balfour with a questioning look, “What do you think?”

Balfor had stood silently until spoken to, a captain… even a merchant one was still a captain. “An engine shouldn’t have a problem with some light silica or glass deposits, not to mention the engines exteriors run so hot that the glass would liquefy and gravity should clear it .. if we go vertical. But you are right, we have a spare Chief of Engineering about.”

Mirri looked over at Balfor and shook her head “There’s nothing out of the ordinary.” She said once he finished talking.

Michael came back to the bridge after talking with the engineers. “Captain. Commander. Lieutenant. So, the engines should work fine. I’m told you have concerns about remaining sand. Understandable. If you take off, and then punch it to maximum safe atmospheric flight speed, the sand shouldn’t have time to form glass. On the off chance it does, which I would call extremely unlikely, there’s not enough to form a block.”

Before Kolar respond, yet another transmission came over his comm-badge. It was the COS.

=^= Mr. Kolar, some of the passengers are a little jittery. I’m recommending that we allow them to beam aboard the Olinski until repairs are done. There is a hanger bay cleared and ready for them if they’d like to stretch their legs. Also, I believe their are a few former Captains aboard. I’m sure they wouldn’t turn down a tour of the flagship. =^=

=^=Do we need security protocols for these passengers? Being on a transport isn’t the same level of clearance as being on the Flagship of the Fleet..=^=

The COS responded =^= They would be restricted to the designated hanger bay unless escorted. We can beam down a couple of officers to quickly verify each batch of passengers before transport. I’m estimating it will take about two hours to process them, assuming all of their records are in order. =^=
