OOC: I am sorry Kenson but I do not remember the setting or back story for the trial so I am putting it on Earth at SF Judiciary and adlibbing. Feel free to correct me.

The trial of his old friend Werex had not gone so well. It was a murder trial after all. First the murder of Lt. Simpson, the lover of Werex, and wife of Captain Horatio Simpson was bad enough. The evidence against him was strong.
They were both serving on the USS Dauntless which her husband Captained and Werex was the XO.
They were, by his own admission upon questioning, involved in an affair for several months
On the night in question a Security ensign on rounds heard shouting in the Captains cabin. He did not want to intrude and did not enter but called for the XO, who did not answer the com
He went to the Security Office and told the COS who ran a badge track on the Captain. He showed to be in his Ready Room. Mrs. Simpson was in her cabin. The XO showed to be in his cabin.
They notified the Captain who met them at his cabin. When they went in Mrs. Simpson was on the bed. Bloodied, dead and half dressed. The XO was unconscious on the floor near her wit no shirt. Near him was a large ornamental candlestick owned by the Simpsons. It appeared to be the murder weapon.
When Werex woke up in Sick Bay he could not remember anything. He was placed in custody by the COS.
The candlestick had blood and tissue from Werez and Mrs. Simpson on it and was confirmed as the murder weapon.
Werex said he had received a written note for him to meet her in the cabin at 2000 hours. They always met using a hand written note system to avoid detection. It was left on deck 2 hallway behind the auxiliary environmental control panel as usual. The XO cabin and the CO cabin were both on deck 2.
He entered and was hit in the head or so he believed and the next thing he knew he was in the Sick Bay under arrest for murder.
A personal log was later found in a search that Mrs. Johnson using her pass code had entered. Not voice. It said she was breaking it off with Werex but feared how he would take it. He was obsessed with her and she was still in love with her husband and wanted to make it work.
The investigation concluded that Werex had entered and when she refused her he attacked her and tore her clothing. She grabbed the candlestick next to the bed and hit him as he turned away, probably hearing the guard walking away. Injured he took the weapon and hit her several times in the head before passing out from his own injury. Her prints were found on the weapon as well as his bloody print.
No other person was seen in hallway monitors as coming or going other than the Werex when he arrived and the guard when he was doing a round. His badge was in his room because he said he left it there in order to conceal evidence of their affair. His story was that Mrs. Johnson did not love her husband and wanted to leave him but feared his reaction and what he would do to her career in SF.
