SNIPToro looked up at Harn as they tried to clean up the signal. She began a different scan to see if there might be a fake or if it was genuine.
CIO
Mirri waited to see what happened “Can we track the signal and maybe get a bit closer and clean it up that way.”
Helm
The Dr did not reply to Harn as the aCO had clearly just told him Kolar had not been replaced for this mission as the usual back up XO. He then awaited his turn in the circle of events unfolding.
Doolittle
The frequency on that they had picked that garbled message on was the official Starfleet transport subspace frequency. It did not seem to be fake. The sand storm on the planet also seemed to be really going on, not a simulation or a fake projection.
GM
Ch’zaolrirh responded to the Sierra, =^= This is Lt. Jg. Ch’zaolrirh of the USS Olinski. Your signal is garbled. Please repeat. =^=
Tapping away at his console, he turned towards the aCO, “I can’t clean it up, but we should be able to triangulate the signal based on the positions of the fighter wing.”
COS Ch’zaolrirh
The response was also quite garbled. They received only the words “repairs incomplete” and “save us” quite distinctly.
GM
Kolar looked over to the doctor. “Bring it here doctor.” He could multitask and since the computer was doing all the hard work he was really just watching the screen. “Perhaps we should set a phaser bank and a photon battery for point defense… just in case all our precautions are for naught.”
Kolar
Dr. Doolittle said nothing about the weapons suggestion for two reasons. It was not directed to him and he was not an advocate of physical force of any kind.
Doolittle handed the CSO the PaDD. It was the complete preparations for casualties should they need to handle any.
Doolittle MD (Not a Doctor, Fremulon)
“It’s good,” Kolar made a quick notation Indicating that he had read the prep report. ” Carry on.”
The Counselor turned to face the aCO. “Shouldn’t we send a probe to gather more information, Captain?” Trevor asked. “Otherwise we might be wasting resource in deploying our weapons.” The Counselor wasn’t intending on under minding Kolar, but rather wanted to offer another solution.
CNS
“That’s a good idea Counselor,” Jason nodded. “After all, we’ve already got assets in the area. Thell, contact Ric and have him send a fighter to the coordinates above the site where the signal is coming from. With our luck there’s a huge sandstorm going in the area and the Sierra touched down on a humungous deposit of kelbonite.”
OOC: As far as I know, nobody has informed Jason that there IS a sandstorm in the location of signal’s origin…
Jason Harn, XO
The Andorian finished his triangulation and opened a channel to the CAG =^= Commander, I’m sending over planetary coordinates. We have received a signal from this location and we believe it may be from the USS Sierra. Mr. Harn would like to see what you can find out =^=
COS Ch’zaolrirh
“Tell him to let us know if it’s safe to move forward at a higher speed,” Jason added.
Ch’zaolrirh quietly passed along the second message to the CAG. There was already enough chatter on the bridge.
Kolar looked at the screen. “There indeed is a sandstorm at the coordinates.” He didn’t see how that would be helpful as the Olinski was likely the tactically superior platform and additional variables helped the weaker not the stronger.
Kolar
Jason choked on a bitter laugh. “Of course there is,” he smiled ironically. “Let me know when you detect the kelbonite deposit.”
Jason Harn, XO
Mirri looked at Harn “Continue on our present course?” She asked turning her attention to where she was guiding the ship and just keeping her mind focused on what she was doing.
Helm
“Yeah,” Jason sighed, irritated at himself. “Increase speed to one sixth impulse. Maybe we’ll reach the second planet before Christmas.”
Doolittle did not like being dismissed but figured it was not anything more than what it was. Cmd. Balfor Kolar being himself. However instead of leaving the bridge he remained. He merely moved closer to the CNS in order to align better with the one person on the Bridge that he could be more aligned with as fr as work went.
Doolittle MD
OOC: He said carry on, he didn’t dismiss him. As a side note, what did you want him to do with the prep list.
OOC: I’m just rping some insecurity on the part of Doolittle who is outwardly very confident but can be intimidated amongst too many Type A personalities and also thinks more into something because he leans toward over analyzing sometimes. Habit of his profession. Nothing on the prep list. He was just finding an excuse to be in the middle of things and watch behaviors.
The COS watched the doctor move about the bridge. Although the Andorian had worked with Doolittle and the ship’s last CMO during the Xarantine incident, they hadn’t interacted all that much. At present, the doctor looked a little out of place. He wondered if it came down to a lack of experience aboard the bridge or a lack of experience in dealing with Mr. Kolar. Either way, the Andorian could sympathize. After all, Ch’zaolrirh was the most junior of the Olinski’s senior staff and only a few months ago, he would have only been summoned to the bridge during “night watch” rotations.
Turning back to his console, he continued to wait for a response from the fighter wing. As he did, he reviewed their flight paths and continued to overlay them over Starfleet’s postwar data on the system.
Lt. Jg. Ch’zaolrirh (COS)
Sidney
Jason managed to pull himself out of his second guessing long enough to notice Doctor Doolittle wandering around the bridge. When Doolittle got around to literally looking over Counselor Michael’s shoulder he decided to speak up. “Hey Doc!” he called out a trifle louder than he intended. “We got a spare seat right here where you can see all the action,” he added as he gestured to the executive officer’s seat that was normally his own. “It’ll give you a front row seat if your here to psychologically assess the acting first officer at his duties,” he teased.
Although Doolittle’s presence might be a distraction, the doctor’s company would be welcome during the long wait everyone aboard would be forced to endure until Ric gave the all clear and the Olinski could move to the second planet from the sun at full impulse. Right or wrong, Jason had chosen the cautious route and changing his mind now would make him seem indecisive and impatient. Besides, having an audience would help him ‘get into character’ and be the acting commanding officer instead of Jason from Bozeman, Montana.
Jason Harn, XO
The Counselor smiled at Doolittle then turned his attention to a notification on his panel. “Looks like all quarters are readied to accept guests.” Trevor said to the aCO. “I’ve got a few Crewmen assigned just in case there is anyone to beam aboard.” The Lieutenant then continued to watch the viewscreen.
CNS
Doolittle was taken aback by suddenly being put on the spot.
“Psychological assessments Commander are for the CNS and his staff. I am here as the CMO.” He said as he outwardly showed confidence and walked over to the chair indicated and sat. Inwardly he was nervous. He had never been a Bridge Officer much less in the Xo chair.
“However this is a learning opportunity for me so I welcome it.” He added.
