Kolar held back for a minute more as he accumulated the data. Names, locations, he put the list together. It could be quick or it could take days, but he would find out what was important. He would start by interaction frequency… that should be the first step. The brain was the most powerful weapon in a sentient being’s arsenal and he would prove it.

“Does anybody have anything thing to add before be enter the Beloti system?” Jason asked as he looked around the table. “Any preparation we’ve overlooked?”

Jason Harn, aCO still getting a handle on this “pacing” thing, but preparing to adjourn the meeting.

Doolittle resisted the urge to say more. He was aware of his own penchant to over speak at times.

Toro spoke up “Why would they attack a transport ship? Is there something with the retired captains that we’re missing?” She asked making a note to do some background checks on the two officers “Do we know if the Sierra had any run ins with ner do wells that may have made her a target?” Toro asked.

CIO

“That’s just it,” Jason shrugged. “We don’t know WHO would want to attack the transport ship or if the two retired captains are considered valuable enough to kidnap to ANYBODY. All we know is that the Sierra disappeared while travelling through this system and that thirty years ago, the Cardassians scattered the system with subspace mines. I’m just trying to cover all the bases and see if there’s anything we missed before we enter the Beloti system and have to start making up things on the fly. As our intelligence expert Toro, you’ve got the connections to find out if there is anything about any of the passengers or crew aboard that ship that would make them valuable to anybody with the means to make an entire ship disappear.”

Doolittle watched the exchanges. He knew this was no longer his role on the ship and more so the CNS but he was interested on how the crew reacted to Harn and how he reacted to them.

Doolittle

Toro nodded “I”m working on that. I am reaching out to my contacts and working on angles. I will see if I can find anything out.” She said as she sent out new messages to her contacts on an encrypted link. “As soon as I have anything I’ll let you know.” <GM- what would she find out from her contacts?>

Through her contacts, Toro would discover that the three captains were all involved in a large pre-Dominion War operation called Operation Squamata. The three ex-captains were at the periphery of the operation not really knowing all the details of the main operation. The main reason for the operation was to find ways to engage the Cardassians. The three ex-captains were involved in the part of plan to try to engage the Cardassians through trade. When the Dominion War erupted, the Operations was cancelled.

Kolar doesn’t have contacts like that. He just has a big brain.

Toro looked up from the PaDD that she had just received a message from one of her contacts “So…it seems that all three captains were involved in Operation Squamata. This was a pre Dominion War operation that was trying to engage the Cardassians through trade.” She said “Once the war broke out, the project ended. It doesn’t say whether or not the project was successful at all.” She said “So if we look at that, who would have had a stake in that? Either positive or negative?” She asked

“Mayne the trade never ended.” Doolittle said out loud even though it was more of an internal thought.

Doolittle

“I don’t know,” Jason murmured as he stroked his manly chin thoughtfully. “You’d think the Dominion War would have knocked most of the pieces off the board.” To be honest, Jason had almost no experience with the Cardassians outside of what he learned about them through his classes at Starfleet and fleetwide updates. He had spent most of his career in the Beta Quadrant. All he knew is that after the war the allied powers had occupied Cardassia Prime for far too long.
