Ael was getting his gear together at his new locker in the Red Squad locker room. Starbuck came up next to him. “Chief. What’d you hear?”
“Same as you. Beloti system. Subspace mine field. Sweep a clear path for the mother bird to come through. Nothing big.”
“Apex. Come on, that’s gold, but there has to be more.” Ael sighed. “That’s all we have. If the assignment changes in air, that’s a different story.” As Red Squad assembled and got ready to fly, the room was slightly abuzz.

Ric stepped into the hanger bay, having a discussion with one of the flight engineers. After nodding an acknowledgement, the CAG approached the gathered Red and Green Squad pilots.

“Here’s the 4-1-1, ladies and gentleman. The Cardassians have provided us with intel on a safe path through the minefield. Honestly, I still don’t trust the Cardassians. The path has been loaded into your onboard computers. We’ve got extra work, though. They’ve used subspace Houdinis in this area and I wouldn’t be surprised if they conveniently forgot to mention where some of those are. The sensors in your birds have been modified to detect those. You paint one, make sure everybody is clear, then light it up. Any questions?”

Ensign Tessa Lance, callsign “Goldeneye” raised her hand. “Yes sir. Do we know how old these mines are? Are they from the Dominion War or the Cardassian Conflict that happened over a decade earlier?”
