A hail from Starfleet HQ came through subspace comms.

“We’ve got a hail from HQ,” reported the comms NE to the duty officer.

GM

OOC: We really must figure out which character handles communications on this ship. Tactical? Ops? Sciences? A Communications station that isn’t listed in the bridge description? Thanks to the LCRS consoles anyone on the bridge could do it, but who does it most of the time?

IC: “On screeen,” Jason grinned, fully expecting the caller to Sidney Parker.

Jason Harn, XO

OOC: Worf did a lot of it on TNG. I guess its an OPs thing, but it looks like the GM took care of it this time.

OOC: Worf was at tactical. So the tactical station also doubles as comms. Sorry, my bad for just using ‘comms’.

IC:

As the message came through, Ch’zaolrirh quietly entered the bridge. Moving to his station, the Andorian tapped the duty officer on the shoulder, letting him know he was relieved.

OOC: This time Captain Parker is conspicuously not present as he has left to defend his former subordinate. Captain Harn is in charge.

Sidney

IC: Vice-Admiral Manning appeared on screen. She was the commander of Starbase 214 which was located close to the Cardassian border.

“Greetings,” she started. Then her eyes moved away from the screen for a brief moment before returning. “Commander Harn, isn’t it?”

“Yes Ma’am,” Jason replied as he rose from the command chair to stand at attention.

“We need a ship to go to the Beloti System. We lost contact with the USS Sierra, in that system. The last time they reported in was that they had some repairs they made and they were going to land on one of the planets and initiate repairs,” said Manning.

GM

Kolar tapped a few keys pulling up the specs on the Sierra, her command crew, last reported mission and the Beloti system as the Admiral spoke. The Captain was away, it would take him several hours to return at best.

“Do we know if they made it down safely?” Jason asked as he took a few steps closer to the main viewscreen. He had a feeling that he already knew the answer to that question.

Manning replied, “We do not know. We need to ascertain if they have lost power and is not stranded. As far as we know we have cleared the mines in the Beloti sector. However, as much as Starfleet is efficient, we might have missed something. We need to go there and see what happened to them. If there are survivors, please search and rescue.”

“Aye-aye Admiral,” Jason nodded.

Mirri sat at the helm and watched and listened, she was already plotting a course to the last known location of the USS Sierra.

Helm

Once Admiral Manning had ended communications Jason started handing out the assignments. “Mirri, lay in a course for the Beloti system. Warp Factor Eight if we can handle it, otherwise Warp Factor Six. Kolar, find out if there are any Mintaka class planets in the Beloti system and if so what we can expect. the Sierra would try to land on an M class world if possible. Toro, look up any information on the Sierra, including a passenger list. See if anything stands out whether a passenger has any specific medical needs or if some one on that ship is considered valuable or has any red flags. Ensign Heywood, contact sickbay and let Doctor Doolittle know that he’s going to have to prepare for possibly a hundred casualties.

“Aye-aye sir,” replied the young ensign at the communications station.

Toro took her spot at one of the tactical stations and began looking up any intelligence that might be available on the Sierra.

CIO

The Sierra was a Starfleet Transport ship. Their manifest for the trip showed that they were moving a group of civilians and two retired Starfleet Captains from a trade visit in the former Cardassian planet Vitar III. They were on their way back to Starbase 214 where a starship would bring them back to Earth.

=^=Bridge to Engineering,=^= Jason called as he sat down and hit a button on his command chair. =^=Michael, we’ve been assigned a rescue mission. Get us up to the greatest sustainable warp speed you can. For all we know, time is of the essence.=^=

OOC: I kept waiting for the admiral to say “Manning out.” As the lower ranking officer, Jason can’t hang up the phone first!
