Back at SB 257 the crew were given a week off. However on Saturday of that week would be the Black and White Ball in the main auditorium which was being converted through the magic of Holotech into a grand hall. It was alike a giant version of an old style ballroom hall. (Take a look here for an idea)

The Captain himself was arranging it but had called the XO over to explain the concept. However it was possible that Harn would know more about the real thing than he did. Frankly he did not know if his XO would or would not.
