Papa Bear and Banner rose from the clearing and began patrolling the ara in their fighters. They kept low, just above the treetops, to keep a watchful eye on the ground for anything that looked technological, yet at the same time avoiding villages and native eyes.

With Banner on his wing, he asked his partner, “Anytink?”

Except for the artificial complex below ground, their sensors did not pick up anything unusual in the meantime.

“No sir, my scanners are not picking up anything,” came the reply.

The other pair of fighters, piloted by “Tink” and “Spotter” came around the edge of their periphery. “So far so good, Papa Bear,” came Tink’s voice over the comm. She had been cleared from the med roster to fly in replacement of Sehlat after a sprained ankle had left her grounded for two weeks. “Thought you might want some company.” She smiled and laughed over the comm. “Besides, I had nothing else to do after eating all the Baklava you left me in medical. Thanks, Bear…”

Spotter’s voice piped in over the comm next. “Enough chatter you guys. We heard you may be short handed and thought we’d join the party.” Spotter was a spare that spent more time as liason with ops on a regular basis, but was trained and able to fill in whenever it was needed.

With the underground facility offline, the villages seemed to have resumed their peace. The villagers seemed to have gotten back to their usual life. There did not seem to be any violent activity so far.

Banner continued his patrol; however he was starting to think that maybe the danger had passed.

The sensors showed that the people were no longer destroying their homes. There were several people hiding in a large wooded area to the east of the village that the COS was currently at.

=^=Apex, there is beingk number of lifeforms to east of your 20. Am not sure if they are friendlies or hostiles. We are going in for a closer look and maybe flush them out.=^=

Spotter hung to Banner’s did and let him lead, while Tink closed in just above and behind Bear.

Tink’s voice came over the open comm. =^=Anyone picking up Federation tags on the group in the woods? I’m not. My guess is natives, but still no hint if friendlies or not. Could just be a hiding group from earlier. Let’s try not to scare them.=^=

She want exactly sure how to not scare with four inbound fighters, but they’d manage she hoped. In her mind she hoped it was just a group of children and elderly who had maybe gone into hiding when the arrivals happened. With no clue, perhaps they were just waiting for an ‘all clear’ sign.

Spotter’s voice came on her heels. =^=Don’t we still have folks on the ground? Maybe should give them heads up and see if they know who our stragglers are.=^=

As they neared, they noticed on the scans that the people were probably natives.

Papa Bear and his squad came in low over the treetops, the lifeforms still showing on their screens. When they were close enough, they could see the beings moving through the forest, heading in the direction to the village. =^=Weapons hot,=^= he told the pilots, as he prepared to fire a warning shot to stop the advance if need be.

=^=Apex, visuals confirm they are natives, =^= Papa Bear replied and powered down his weapons. He then led the squad as they veered off their course.
