=/\=I’ll check. If not, there’s always the possibility of an adapter.=/\= Michael examined the schematics to see if there was any way to power the ship with Starfleet batteries.

The Starfleet batteries could easily be used to supplement the power and one battery would be able to extend power by three hours.

=^=Would the engine core from one of the Dragoon’s shuttles be compatible?=^= Jason asked as he continued to brainstorm. He was clearly just spit balling ideas right now.

=/\=Now you’re talking about mixing and matching systems. It’s possible, but there’s likely a lot of rigging involved. A battery buys us three hours. Enough time to restart main power. Not all systems, just the main power core. Computers, life support, and base electricity would default to using that. The ship itself stays mostly as it is, but we’re not on a constant deadline.=/\= Michael checked if dilithium would be a compatible substitute for the unknown substance they had been using.

There was a short pause before the executive officer replied. =^=It sounds like you’ll need the Dragoon’s batteries beamed over to you in any case if you don’t want to be working in the dark. Send us a list of what you need and we’ll beam it down to you.=^=

Toro left the engineer to work out the power system while she continued to check out the other areas close by for anything that might be useful.

Toro heads out the main door to check the corridor for other areas “Gould I will be right back.” The CIO said.

Michael nodded. =/\=Beam down every battery you can spare, two shuttle dilithium chambers, about 20 feet of tubing, some sort of fusing device. The more complete an engineering kit you can send over, the better.=/\= He kept checking to see if dilithium would be compatible, if not he had a backup plan.

In a few moments, there were seven batteries beamed down to Gould’s location.

=/\=Lt. Gould, this is Reynolds from the Dragoon. We will need a little more time to get the dilithium chamber to you.=/\=

It was possible to link the dilithium chamber to the engine he was working on. However, he did not have the advantage of a Starfleet computer on hand to simulate the process.

Michael set up as many batteries as he could without blowing a circuit. It’s fine Toro, I’ll handle this. You go for a walk. He thought. Well. It’s a matter/antimatter reactor. I need to make sure I can regulate the flow rate to accommodate the modified setup. But the rest should work just fine. He tried to access an engine control system where he could regulate matter/antimatter flow. I had a lot less possibly dying in mind when I joined Starfleet.

With the batteries, he had managed to power up the ship’s computer. As he was assessing the computer, trying to figure out the meaning of the diagrams, he received word from Reynolds.

=/\=Lt. Gould, this is Reynolds. We are beaming the dilithium chamber to you right now.=/\=

As Reynolds spoke, the air shimmered and the dilithium chamber appeared in the mysterious ship’s engineering room.

“Hello beautiful. Let’s see what we can do.” Michael hauled the dilithium chamber near the warp core. “Really, it’s fine Toro. I got it. You keep doing… whatever it is you do.” he muttered to the absent CIO. When he was close to the core, he withdrew his tricorder and scanned the core. No chance I could just dump the dilithium in? Probably not. Still he hoped that the design would be similar enough to Starfleet that such a thing was possible.

He found that he could bypass the ship’s main energy generator and connect the dilithium chamber to the ship’s power distribution core and thus provide energy to the whole of the ship. It would take some work to align the dilithium crystals but he could have the ship running in an hour or so.
