SNIP=/=How about if these are the Iconian? They can asume corporal form. What if they did this to themselves, knowing they were trapped here. What if they do not know they are Iconians?” .=/= The Captain suddenly said. It sounded odd but somehow it sounded right too. He had opened the com so the Dragoon could hear it too.
Parker CO
=^=That’s what I intend to find out, sir,=^=Jason replied as if he had been conversing with Parker the entire time. =^=Toro and Gould managed to send some computer files up to us and I wanted to compare the DNA from the derelict’s medical files to the readings taken of the natives down on the planet. The thing is, I’m hesitant to send the computer files to the Olinski since if I remember correctly the USS Yamato was destroyed by an Iconian computer virus. I’m thinking, worse case scenario, we better have a spare starship. Do we have a spare a computer scientist or astro-archeologist we can beam to the Dragoon to analyze the data?=^=
Jason Harn, XO
=^= COS to Olinski. The locals may not be aware of these tunnels. We have discerned that they were built using material from the planet itself, but the builder is unknown. At this time, I don’t believe there would be any benefit heading deeper into the network. Mr. Kolar has already gained access to the network and there are no life signs down there. At present a native child has entered the cave. We are going to return him to his village and report back =^=
COS Ch’zaolrirh
=^=The Iconians are a dead race, if you happen to find one in any condition you will have made the most celebrated discovery in 500 years.=^= then under his breath, if you survive.
Kolar
=^=Exactly, but what if the ‘natives’ you found the surface are the descendants of the Iconians?=^= Jason replied to the chief science officer. =^=The derelict is the remains of an Iconian colony ship. From what I’ve been told, the people you found on the surface haven’t thought for themselves for generations. What if they were descended from the Iconians and don’t know it? Of course, there’s always Mister Gould’s theory that the Iconians became marooned on this planet and created that microwave mind control trap so they could hijack someone else’s starship. In that case there’s a possibility that the people down on the planet are descended from whoever they hijacked, but I’m thinking they’re the descendants of the Iconians. We’ve got some files from the derelict’s computer but we’ll need a computer specialist or an astroheologist to decrypt them. Got anybody on your staff you can recommend, Commander?=^=
Jason Harn, XO
=^=An exo-archaeologist? That is an uncommon major,=^= Kolar thought for a moment, =^=Ellen Ripley has a minor in advanced dead races, she wrote a paper her senior year for her history class on the Iconians… it was very good. She received an A , I would have given it a B+.=^= He looked around for a moment, =^=But I digress, the best computer specialist we have… trying not to be immodest, is me.=^=
OOC: We have no active junior science officers or I would have used them.
Kolar CSO
=^=That’s what I figured,=^= Jason chuckled.
OOC: Yea unfortunately we lost them.
IC:“Kolar I guess your up again.” The Captain said. “Were guessing and we need to stop doing that. We need answers.”
“It’s nice to be needed, Sir.” Kolar stepped back from his station.
=^=The CSO will come over since the data wont come to us. Or will it? Can we separate and control the data.=^= He asked Kolar while he kept the com open.
Parker CO
=^=I don’t advise it Skipper,=^= Jason replied ruefully. =^=The only reason why I remember anything about the long dead Iconians is because of what happened to the Yamato. I’d rather not have Iconian computer files spread any further than… excuse me, sir I’m getting another call.=^=
Kolar didn’t say anything he just nodded. in agreement with the XO. After the XO recieved the second call. “I’ll bring over a new tricorder that has the transmitter function diabled, so it can only upload. They used to call this air gaping a computer in the old days.”
Soon the officers on the bridge could hear the voice of their chief engineer who was currently exploring the Iconian derelict.
=/\=Lt Gould to Cmdr Harn. I can do it sir. But I need a very specific set of things. It’s probably best if we get it from Dragoon shuttles. Two shuttlecraft warp core dilithium chambers, fused together. I also need deuterium. And enough tubing to route the matter/antimatter flow in the right direction. Sir, this thing ran out of fuel, they mined as long as they could and abandoned ship. They didn’t use dilithium. And whatever it was they used, I don’t recognise it. That’s probably why they couldn’t get their hands on any. Sir, I know I’m rambling, but this is big. We can get an Iconian ship up and running. Request permission to proceed with the reboot?=/\=
-Lt Michael Gould, CE
=^=Belay that for a moment Mister Gould,=^= Jason retorted. =^=If we have access to the colony ship’s computer, I don’t think getting her off planet is necessary. Let me check with the captain first.=^= Addressing his commanding officer, Jason made one last attempt to minimize the risks. =^=Harn to Parker. It’s your call sir. We may need to move that ship someday but right now it seems like more trouble than it’s worth.=^=
Jason Harn, XO showing his age by playing it safe
=^=I agree Number One. We have specialized units for just this sort of thing in SF. We want data on who these people are more than anything so we know how to proceed. Right now they might be Iconian or some natives. Either way any semblance of violating the Prime Directive is a non issue. Someone else did that a long time ago if even. The CSO will go to you and lets keep this limited to the parameters we just discussed.=^=
Parker CO
=^=Aye-aye sir, I’ll relay that suggestion immediately.=^= Jason replied in a brisk professional tone before addressing the duo that were currently exploring the Iconian relic. =^=Mister Gould, belay all attempts to restore power to the flight systems of Iconian colony ship. As long as you have power to the computer systems and life support, that should be all we need. Mister Balfor will be contacting you shortly, standby for his instructions. Harn out.=^=
Jason Harn, XO, successfully able to keep the triumph and relief out of his voice.
Kolar slid off the bridge silently.
Balfor Kolar CSO
The Counselor felt a bit more at ease now that they weren’t trying to get the ship flight ready. Trevor made a mental note to sit down with Lieutenant Primage, however that could wait until they were finished up here at the planet.
CNS
Maybe a little premature but the Captain felt that they were starting to get a grip on this mission. At least it was heading in a forward direction.
“CNS Michaels. Could these be Iconians? Would Iconians, faced with a bleak situation like this, resort to making themselves forget that they are Iconians?” He asked. He knew it was a hard to answer question but the psychology of the situation was important.
Parker CO
OOC: Those questions are being answered in another thread but we on the Bridge do not have that answer yet. So if Michaels wants to extrapolate that is fine.
Sidney
The Captain looked at MIchaels and waited for his answer.
Parker CO
After getting input the Captain thought through the situation.
“CNS I think its time you took some role in this all. Lead the charge on getting info and soothing the transition of the mission. It is time we start thinking of what we are going to do with these people.” He ordered.
=^= Captain to Away Team. Can we call the situation under control or are there still active threats?=^=
Parker CO
Mirri continued to maintain their position. She also monitored the comms chatter and looking for outside threats.
