The Captain looked over his bridge crew.

So the Antioch system has gone dark. No coms at all. No ships leaving. Nothing. The Federation sent the USS Dragoon to investigate and now they are dark too. Our job is to investigate and find out what happened. What is happening. We will not go dark. Lt. Cmd , Science is going to be important here. Yourself and Dowd will have to tell us what were not seeing when we arrive because I get the feeling that is the real trick. Security, we need to be ready. I want counter boarding drills ran and on alert from before we arrive. Have our tac systems checked and rechecked with Engineering. As for Engineering I want to be ready to get out of a bad spot quick. So get us ready. Drill on everything. Medical you know your job. Look up the Antioch system. See if there is anything there that could indicate medical issues. Old epidemics etc…” He said looking from one officer to the other.

Kolar looked at the Captain with almost a blank stare. When wasn’t science important? He would think it, but he wouldn’t dare say it. His thoughts were best kept to himself. Instead he just responded with his common, “Aye Sir, if there is something to be found… we will find it.”

“Intel I want to know every political intrigue of the system and the neighboring systems. We want to know everything about this system.” He said to Toro. “Flight we need birds ready and hot. I foresee you taking an active role here.”

“Any questions?” He asked and looked at the XO as well.

Jason cleared his throat awkwardly. “Um, yes sir. What class of starship was the USS Dragoon?” he asked, hoping that it was something small or outdated like a Miranda or an Oberth class.

Jason Harn, XO

Trevor knew he’d be able to assist medical if needed, given his past medical experience. For now, he would remain on the Bridge to see what they were up against. The Counselor knew they’d be able to take on anything thrown their way, so he wasn’t too worried.

From his seat at one of the auxiliary stations, Ric nodded his head in acknowledgement. “We’ll be ready and on alert before we get there, Skipper.”

OOC: The Dragoon was a Pendragon class.

“Pendragon Class. Which means if this is a hostile encounter of some kind we will have our hands full. That ship can take care of itself in battle and if its not communicating thats not good.” He answered.

Parker CO

“Yipes,” Jason commented wryly. “We’re going to need our ‘A’ game.” Deep down he had a feeling that whatever took the Dragoon out wasn’t a conventional starship. The Dragoon would have been able to send out some kind of message and as far as he knew nothing had reached Starfleet.

“Sir.” Michael piped in, “any modifications or supplements you’d like made to our own communications systems before we reach Antioch?”

“Good point. Lets see if we can boost them and shield anything that is associated with the coms.” He replied.

Parker CO

Mirri sat in her seat and guided them to the Antioch system. She was listening to what was going on around her and waited for other orders.

OOC: Did the CO give orders to warp to the Antioch system? Sorry if I missed it.

Toro was at her station and working on information on the station and the system to see if there was anything from Intelligence that would give them a small leg up on why the area had gone dark.

CIO

After a moment’s contemplation, Michael had an idea. “We might be able to take the shield array out of a shuttlecraft and make an independent shield system for the ship’s comms array. Might be able to boost the signal with two probes, one dropped at the edge of the system and one where we take core components to amplify our signal output.”

“That wouldn’t, oh wait, that’s actually a good idea,” Jason backpedalled. “The shield arrays send out the strongest signals of anything we got onboard. But would the ones from the shuttles really be more powerful than our standard ones?”

“In fact it is an excellent idea.” Kolar looked at Gould, “I was going to suggest the use of probes, but this is a superior idea. It costs us a shuttle short term, but that won’t be an issue if we survive and if we don’t then it wouldn’t be an issue anyway.”

“Make it so. Science work with engineering on it. However lets not do anything that degrades our normal scanning capabilities. We will need them as well.” The Captain ordered.

The Captain looked around to see if there was any other input.

As leader for Green Squad, Xandra had tucked in behind Ric’s heels and was sitting silently behind him as orders were passed out. As the Captain looked around, she raised her hand a moment. “Sir… if ships sent to that area went ‘dark’ would it be so wise for us to do the same thing? The Pendragon Class should have held up which means something is certainly actively blocking them. My suggestion,” and she forced herself not to glance at Ric because she knew what his reaction would be at her volunteering this idea, “is that I take a couple fighters ahead. We can stagger ourselves and creep up on the ‘area’ to make sure we aren’t running into a local anomaly. If the lead fighter goes dead, we have two or three behind it to relay back where the ‘event horizon’ of the affected zone is, but also tell what else may be a factor.”

Perhaps she had spoken too quickly and perhaps it was irrational. But to her, irrational was ‘two’ main ships caught by… whatever it was. “We could then try the shuttle idea with augmented shields if that’s all it is. But if it’s an attack or annihilator style affect these ships are suffering, we also can’t afford to be hit by it as well.” Dead zones and wells where electronics didn’t work right wasn’t as big a deal as some thought. But a species or class of ship some other race had that could penetrate and drop a Pendragon in its tracks… that was something all together new and not to be taken lightly.

The Captain did not mind the Sqd Ldr speaking up. If Ric had a problem with it then he would bring that up with her.

“I’m not opposed to it but fighters have weaker coms and if you enter the system and go dark then what does that really tell us. It might tell us the edge of the interference or threat is but nothing more. All we do is lose good pilots. However if you did use a chain of ships with a shuttle at the end to boost the final com to the Olinski and with our mods in place it might be better than the whole ship taking the risk . Talk it over with your CAG and he approves we can use it. If not then Plan A.” He said.

It was actually not a bad idea. It probably would not make a huge difference but if it made a little that was better than nothing.

The COS had been reviewing data on the USS Dragoon. He wanted to know what kind of firepower it had, in case the vessel was compromised. Responding to the captain’s earlier order to prepare for a possible boarding, he spoke up, “Sir, permission to return to the security office? I’d like to get the teams armed and prepared.”

Kolar looked over.. “There will need to be multiple projects. The design and removal of the shield array… the alignment of the probe with the sensors systems… and the coordinating program. I can create the program and the alignment system.” He waited to see what the engineer would offer that was within his skill set.

Kolar.

OOC: Yep. We basically just left. This is a bridge round table at this time. The crew were going to be making mods on the way there so when we get to the edge we can implement our plan. Well that is the plan anyway.
