As the counselor was beamed over from the transport ship he was on. Gibbs then started to walk out of the transporter room and into a turbo lift, and said “bridge”. It then took him to the bridge, he chimed the captains read room chime and stands awaiting to enter.

Lt. Gibbs

The Captain looked over the orders he had received for the new CNS. Michaels had been the CNS for so many years that Sid had stopped counting until he finally hung it up. He now had a new man coming in for the job. It would be odd. The chime ran and he slowly uttered.

“Enter.” And then he waited.

Parker CO

He then walked in and said “Lt. Leroy Jethro Gibbs reporting as ordered sir.” As he looked at the captain at attention.

Lt. Gibbs.

“At ease and have a seat Lt.” The Captain said like a man who had said it a million times before. “Relax your my CNS. It’s true we are a combat ship and your predessor had gotten himself into more fights and tight situations than most CNS ever will. However in the end your my man to make sure we see the problems coming and head them off before they arrive. You are also the man I will need to trust in negotiations etc..So lets be ourselves for a few minutes.”

He hoped the man understood. He was all about military decorum but he also was a human as well and this relationship would have to be a good one for this to work out.

Parker CO

“Yes sir of course captain. If anything you know who to come and of course with negotiations is my strongest. So if anything I’m your man.” He said. As he sat down.

Lt. Gibbs.

“Ok. I see your official background here but this does not tell me who you are.” The Captain said glancing at the PaDD with Gibb’s orders and profile. “Tell me who you are.”

Parker CO

“Sir I am a well trained counselor. I am actually willing to help anyone who needs the help but also the fact that I am a nice gentle person that is also willing to sit down and talk and listen.” He said.

Lt. Gibbs

“Well thats a trait that is needed but that is not all the job. You have to read people. If a Tellurite is sitting across the table and angry and fuming I need to know if he is playing the usual Tellurite trick or is he serious. There is more to the CNS role on a combat ship than just listening to crew members.” The Captain explained.

Parker CO

“Well yes sir. Of course. I will definitely look into it for the crew and talk to them and see what is going on and what not.” He said.

Lt. Gibbs

The Captain was looking for assurances that the new CNS understood the scope of his new job. Up to this point he was not sure if he was getting that message across.

“Lt. Gibbs. If we are facing a new unknown species who has blockaded our path and are claiming we have just impeded into their space and threatening a battle but seemed to be less technologically advanced and not quite capable of carrying out the threat..what would you recommend to me? To do? To say in reply?” He decided to test the new CNS.
