From the logs from that console, the Dragoon had detected the faint microwave emissions from the planet. However, when they got to orbit, the emissions had strengthened and flooded the ship. There was no warning and the Dragoon neither had its shields up nor prepared a counter for the microwave flooding. Then, the engineers systematically shut down the systems to the ship. At the same time, the crew were being transported to the surface of the planet. There was a program to shut down power and life support the moment the last transport was complete. The last transport was that of the senior staff officers.

OOC: Who was transporting the crew to the planet. Was it an attempt to abandon ship, or were they being stolen away by the natives?

The transports were worked by the crew of the Dragoon.

“Good news folks,” Michael said without looking up. “everything was turned off manually by the crew. Which means it’s all intact and ready to go. The crew was beamed off by onboard command and life support was set to shut down once everyone was off the ship. Good thing is, if they just turned systems off, we can turn it all back on. Start the ship up like she’s brand new. There should be an emergency power system. We could probably get that going, I can do a cold restart of the warp core and restore main power. Our only concern is the microwaves. I don’t know what they do, but the crew panicked and shut down. We’re going to use that backup power to get life support, computer, and shields working. In that order.” He finally looked up. “Sound good?”

“Make it so Mister Gould,” Jason shrugged, quoting his old CO from the Galaxy. His smile vanished as a disquieting thought occurred to him. “If there was nothing wrong with the ship, why would they all beam down?” he asked out loud.

The commander read the COS’s mind. He wondered why the Dragoon wouldn’t have simply pulled out of the microwave’s range.

“Caution, Commander, Were it I who powered down a star ship I would put a whole mess of booby traps so that only the right people could turn on a ship capable of wiping out an entire civilization.” Kolar waved his tricorder in a couple directions trying to collect information on odd wiring, or auto run programs. He also called up the prefix code and he bios of all the command crew of the Dragoon… better safe than sorry.

The Andorian tugged on his cold suit as his eyes followed Kolar’s tricorder. At this point, he suspected that there would be minimal additional clues on the bridge or within the Dragoon’s security office. He called over to the chief engineer, “Mr. Gould, can we bring up the last log from the ship’s COS? In addition to booby traps, someone in his position might have attempted to leave a cryptic message for us to find.”

“We can certainly try.” Michael tapped away at the console feeding through logs. If he couldn’t find the CoS’ log, he had a backup plan to search for system updates made by the security department.

He was able to assess the logs of the COS, CMO and the COO. The strange thing about the logs was that they all seem to end to abruptly. There were not entries that indicated that there were booby traps or extra security precautions implemented.

“That’s weird. Nothing in any officer’s log about extra security. Weird thing is, they all look cut off. Well. Either the entries just suddenly ended, or something is missing. Let’s get started on bringing on backup power. Let’s see…” He looked around the engine room. “this is Pendragon Class? Should be a manual override for emergency backup power somewhere.” He closed his eyes to recall exactly where and how it would work.

The manual override was where the CE thought.

“This mystery is REALLY getting mysterious,” Jason commented. “Let me get this straight; absolutely NOTHING was wrong with the Dragoon but everything is turned off anyways? What happened to the crew, were they beamed off by whoever’s on the planet?”

Jason Harn, XO, reminding Luke about the clue he found but didn’t report to the rest of us

“The data suggests that they were self-transported by design off the ship. The rest of the ship was shut down by automatic programming. The microwaves seemed to catch them by surprise. My tricorder does not detect any booby traps. I am unimpressed, by the level of caution.”

“Hmm, perhaps they left someone in stasis in Medical?”

The tricorder showed no life signs left on the ship except the away team.

“Wait a second,” Jason protested. “They left BY DESIGN?” he repeated in an almost comical concern. “As in one minute they were fine and the next minute they just all get up and decide to leave the ship? That isn’t natural. Could it be some sort of mind control? That could effect EVERYONE on an ENTIRE STARSHIP?” he shuddered, as he was briefly taken back to the B movies of his youth. Such things had only happened in science fiction when Jason was young but apparently he had traveled far enough into the future where such things became a reality. Despite the heat returning to the room when Ghould restored life support, Jason’s face was pale and bloodless when he removed his oxygen mask.
