(Takes place after DINNER WITH THE DOC)
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/odin/posts/85134/Lissi was dressed in a lovely peasant outfit. Her under shift was of an off white linen that covered her bosom and trailed to her ankles. Her over skirt, cinched up on the sides, was of a deep blue. And her corset top was cinched tight leaving most things to the imagination, but allowing cleavage to enhance such thoughts. The under shift was an off the shoulder short sleeve that left shoulders bare. And her hair had been twirled into a mass of curls then bound up loosely in a bun. It was an odd look with her angular Klingon features, but she pulled it off somehow.
She was waiting outside the holo suite waiting for Abel and their dessert date. the table was set, only thing missing was the Doc.
Lt Ka’Lissi Rosh
CEWhistling arrived before Abel did, but when he did come into view the whistling stopped and he took in Lissi’s look. “That is… an amazing look on you. I approve.” he said with a smile. He was dressed in long woolen pants and brown leather shoes. His shirt was an off-white peasant style shirt with brown braces over each shoulder. Over that was a deep green cable knit sweater. His hair was covered by a rackish skelly cap of heather gray.
“Shall we off to the English countryside, then?” and he offered her his arm.
Abel, CMO
Her smile brightened. “I approve as well,” she said as her hand reached to trace a moment over the cable knit of the sweater. “Sorry, I have this thing for comfy sweaters. Probably half my closet.” She laughed and nodded taking his arm. She tapped the button on the door and as it opened, the sound of the surf hit her ears first.
Stepping into the sim, the door closed behind them. If they looked, the fields behind them went on forever. Before them, a small cabin sat just back from the cliff’s edge. Part way to the cottage, Lissi stopped a moment. Her senses overwhelmed slightly. Her breath hitched as she reached up to push wind blown hair from her face. “I had no idea. I’ve never…” She shook her head. “I’ve never run a sim this complex. Just training rooms.” She looked at him and blushed. “I’m sorry. Kinda silly to get overwhelmed by a holodeck, isn’t it? It just wasn’t this ‘complete’ when I came to set up the desserts.”
Lissi
CEHe smiled and said “Even a simulation of this place gets me. If I ever get to retire, this is where I will go.” and he laughed. “And I am looking forward to the Shepard’s Pie as well… but I think the company will be the taste of the evening.” and he smiled as they continued their way to the cottage. Reaching the wooden door, he opened it and the warm glow of a fire and candles lit the room. “My but you did go all out. I think it’s perfect.” and he ushered her inside.
Abel
The table was set with cloth covered dishes and two pitchers of hammered iron sat there as well. At the head of the table, facing the fireplace, was a place setting. Another setting was placed to the right. The fire blazed and the room was warm compared to outside. She had blushed at the comment about the company being the taste of the evening and she entered with him smiling. “Thank you… Kinda over did it I’m sure.” She moved to the fire and smiled as ‘heat’ actually came from it. She moved back towards the set table as she watched him move around.
As he looked around, she uncovered the faire. There was Shepard’s Pie, warm homemade bread, tea, ice water, and a trifle heavy with fruit chunks and whipped cream. “i hope you’re hungry.”
Lissi
CE“Famished, I must say. Busy today, but wanted to make sure I was done in time. And no… you didnt over do it. Not at all. It really is perfect.” and he took off his cap and sweater, hanging them on the wooden peg by the door. He then looked at her and said “I brought a treat.” and produced from a deep side pocket a bottle. “Irish whiskey. I felt it appropriate for the venue.” and he laughed and set the bottle on the table.
Abel, CMO
“Now I feel bad I hadn’t thought of it first,” she laughed and pushed the two mugs on the table towards his place. Lissi took a seat to the right of the head of the table, leaving that spot to him. “You take care of the drinks and I’ll get us started, then.” She took his plate, first, and put a large scoop of pie on it, added a couple slices of bread and set it down. She then served herself. “It’s odd, being in a setting like this. Hard to think of living this way. But it’s comfortable as well.” She looked at him. “I can see the appeal of retiring here. I guess I don’t give any thought to retiring. I always assumed I’d go while on duty.” She laughed. “Horrible to think on. Sorry.” She laughed and set the spoon down.
Lissi
CEHe shrugged and said “I know a lot of officers that think that way. We are raised on takes of heroics and great deeds done for the common good and welfare. And those are wonderful. But those called to make thise kinds of stands are few and far between, I think. Most of us will serve, learn, and live long enough to enjoy what our lives spent away from hearth and home allowed us to have. This…” and he gestured around, “… this is my dream. To have a small place to call mine, a place and peace I know I earned. That, to me, is what all of this about.” and he smiled and poured the whiskey. “And there is my rambling quotient for the day, I think.”
Abel, CMO
She smiled. “You’re right. I hope you get your dream. As to your ramblings, don’t stop.” She laughed. “You almost have me convinced it’s worth it to retire and find a nice ‘hearth’ as well.” She blushed and smiled. Looking out the window at the sea, she sighed. “I could get used to a place like this. I’m thinking this program needs to be saved. You’ll have unfettered access to it as well, if you wish.” She looked at him and imagined them having dinner like this more often. She blushed at the idea and busied herself with the butter for her bread.
Lissi
CEAbel looked at the table and said “Only thing it’s missing is a big bed with lots of heavy blankets. And maybe some sheep grazing outside. Then… perfection.” and he took a bite of the dish. He chewed and swallowed and said “But this needs no improvement. This is fantastic. Best thing I’ve had in my mouth in quite a while.” and he took another bite.
Abel, CMO
She laughed about the bed. “I’ll keep that in mind next time.” As they tucked into the pie, she laughed. “Guess we need to work on that then, huh? You should always have good things against your lips,” she grinned at him as her own double meaning slid from her lips.
Lissi
CEEither choosing not to acknowledge… or perhaps more accurately simply not registering the innuendo… he nodded enthusiastically. “Oh yes! I do love new experiences when it comes to trying new things. I will probably try anything at least once. I mean, you never what all you will like till you try it, right?” he asked and took another bite and did a little happy food dance in his chair.
Abel, CMO
She laughed at his happiness and sat in silence with him a few moments as they ate. About halfway thru, she looked at him. “I happen to look up your hobby, Abel. I wanted to see what I could do to help.” She smiled softly and moved her left hand to touch his arm. “I think it’s amazing! The things you do. Why don’t you want anyone to know, Abel?” Her question was soft, and not accusatory. She was so proud of him and it showed in her face and her soft smile.
Lissi
CE
He shrugged as he took another bite. He chewed slowly and then took a drink before speaking. He didnt look at her as he did, his voice was slightly wary and a touch… well, resigned. “My whole life I was part of a privaledged class. My family had means and wealth, and they used that generate even more means and wealth. They planned out every aspect of my life. Even me being a doctor.” and he sighed and leaned back and looked at her, his arm sliding from her touch.
“I learned how they used money… influence… power… and it made me sick to my stomach. I couldnt stand the non-stop fawning and groveling of those that wanted some of what we had. And the overt arrogance that came from wealth. So… I left. I joined Star Fleet and cut all ties. I just wanted to be myself, not their version of me. I went 5 years without contact, even though they tried… gods above how they tried… and I though I was done. Then… not even a week after coming aboard the Odin, they managed to buy a Fleet Medical Officer who called me directly under false pretense. I answered, it was my parents claiming some kind of moral change of heart. Gave me all the family funds and properties, kept just enough to live on and one of the summer homes. Said I could do whatever I wanted… So I started the Foundation. Thought I could some good, spend all the money, and then be done.” and he laughed.
“Turns out there is something inherent in my family that makes it impossible to make bad financial decisions.” and he laughed again and took a drink. “I spent a lot, but invested just enough to make sure the projects I started could be finished. Those investments did… well… very well. And now I have about two times the amount of financing I started with… even after spending.” and he took another drink and said “So that is a long winded way of explaining that knowing someone is wealthy makes people act differently than who they are. So… I am wary who I share that part of me with. So how long have you known, Lissi?” he asked, almost as if he knew the answer and that this ‘date’ wasn’t what he thought.
Abel, CMO
