IC: Lt. Kirshara looked back at the doctor and replied, “Sir, it was not my intention to offend; as a Vulcan I simply was pointing out what I perceived to be an illogical display of emotion. Again, no offense was intended.”

“Yes, sir?” The only evidence that Tauren heard the emotional tone or timbre of his chief’s voice was a slightly faster than usual gait as he approached the exam table. However, his own pointy ears had led him to hear most of the chief’s outburst, so he had a fair idea of what was going on. Direct visual observation confirmed most of the rest. “I see. I will take things from here, then?”

“Lieutenant, please lay back, and I will begin the evaluation,” he said, one eye and ear listening for whether the Chief would wander off out of close earshot.
Whether the CMO was truly out of ear shot would remain a question as the depth and range of his species hearing was unknown mostly. But the red gold furred alien had wandered into the back reaches of sickbay apparently to calm down or something. Pongo’s outburst would have been out of character for him, for the most part, and for a second or two all of sickbay quieted, but seeing that it was not going any further mostly everyone went back to work.

IC: In order to simply not offend any further Kirshara simply followed directions.

Tauren began his scan, noting no significant variations from Vulcan norms in physiology. For a long minute, not a word passed. Tauren moved to the second part of the scan, before he finally spoke. “If I might observe, sir, that sometimes our observations are mistaken as irritation by others. Offense could not have been intended, as that would be illogical. Yet it is still sometimes taken that way.” He gave a glance up to the screen, resuming the standard procedure. “Your copper levels are slightly low, but that is probably due to an improperly adjusted shuttlecraft replicator, and should resolve with proper diet. Are there any undisclosed medical issues or restrictions in your history? Any allergies?”

“No, Doctor, what is in my record should be my complete medical history since I joined Starfleet” answered Kirshara. It was noticeable that the Lt. did not respond to the comment regarding the CMO’s irritation because any such emotion did not seem logical to Kirshara. Maybe, his father was right, Kirshara needed to brush up on his ability to get along with other members of society.
