Beside the fact he was the Department Head of the scientific area, Ari needed still to make a check-in by himself to the XO. Many of the person he met told that he was kinda new too onboard and it was his first week work:
“Nice!” He was joying “Computer, show me the nearest turbolift.”
The computer showed the turbolift that was just few aisle away - with a sprint, he started running, but with a ease pace and within 20/30 seconds he was already in and going up to meet the XO.

A bling and the steady lights of the chamber signaled Ari that he was on deck 1, while the doors were sliding in each compartment. Wow, he stuck between shaft and bridge, thinking on how shiny it was, maybe more than the Med Bay. Officers alike were all in the place and his workstation was there: a wide screen with keyboard and chair, was there waiting for his lovely but soft butt cheek to try to sit and the buttons to be pressed. And in the other way, a man was standing nearby the Captain’s chair, talking with the Helmsman, maybe for a corrective route. Green shadowing eyes, normal height and good body - he seemed the dream officer, of every girl onboard. Jokes aside he was a good looking man and this discouraged a bit Ari.

“Excuse me?” Interrupted the XO “I’m Lieutenant Ari Kux Salemberger, new CSO. I’m here to report for duty. And also, nice to meet you.”
In all of this, a hand was right behind his back and the other was leaning to offer it to the XO, whom name was still unknown.

OOC: a small tip, I’m sure your character would have looked up the names and profiles of the Command staff on the Odin when assigned, it would be an expected thing for your future characters.

IC: Ending the conversation with the Helmsman, Mason turned to the newcomer. With a smile, he extended his own hand a shook the mans offered.

“Lieutenant Salemberger, welcome to the Odin. I wasn’t expecting you to check in until later, I trust you had no issues with your arrival so far?”

OOC: thanks for the tip. I did not payed attention as it was pretty chaotic the environment I was in and I forgot that I could read the list.

IC: “no sir, no issue. Today I woke up pretty earlier, indeed I have already made my boarding physical. And after this check in I’ll be going for the counselor check in.” Replied the Lieutenant as he was shaking the Commander’s hand.

Just the fact that he was almost part of the bridge personnel made Ari’s heart beat fast and loud - that would have been his workplace, with the labs and the various others module for many years to come.
“So do we begin, sir?” Asked Mr. Black

“Not quite yet,” Mason replied, “But I like your enthusiasm. Once we get notification that your medical checks out and the Counselor clears you on their end, I’ll have you added to the Duty Roster and you can begin.” Mason indicated they should wander over to the Science Console, and he himself began to walk.

Ari followed Mason and on the way of going, with the outer sight he gave a look to the other workstations he forgot to give attention.
“Alright, then it is better that I make my counselor check as soon as possible.” He said smiling

“Until then, you are free to inspect the labs and make use of our facilities, of course, but you will not officially be the Odin’s Chief Science Officer until those meetings are rubber stamped. So what do you think of her so far? The Odin is the Flagship of the Meridian Fleet and one of the largest classes in Starfleet service. Think you can handle the role Lieutenant?”

“I think I can handle this role and help for new improvements on this magnificent ship.” He grunted with an excited voice “this is a very large one… I always served on smaller ship, but here. My god I can live an entire life. I might be used to these walls and commodities.”
Arrived near the workstation, he gave a look to the screen and touched the outer frame, as it was his pet.
“Really beautiful.” Commented “how many years it is already in service the Odin, sir?”

“She’s been in service only five years, the first of her type was commissioned only eight years ago,” Mason told the man. “But looking at her records, she’s seen some exciting missions. I’m sure that’s not going to change in the near future.”

Ari listened and payed attention to Mr. Mason telling him about this ship. It was beautiful and indeed he was lucky to be in there.
“Yeah, I really hope that is not going to change, any soon as I’m boarding.” He smiled with a big, big smile.

Mason looked at the man, and became serious for a moment. “These Mythology vessels are a different experience from the smaller classes, trust me, Salemberger. It’s easy to think the extra comforts afforded by the size of this ship mean we don’t expect as much, but it’s quite the opposite. I expect my Officers and especially my Senior Staff to be punctual, professional and accurate in doing their tasks. I welcome opinions and solutions, but not insubordinate as you can expect. Are we clear Lieutenant?”

“How can I say no, no? If you expect me to do something, don’t ya worry, sir. I have promised when I entered the Academy that I would have had made the best work for the ship I was serving on, and I haven’t still broke that promise. It is all written in my service history.” Seriousness in Ari was not a mirage for those scrutinized eyes and when he was told to do something, he was willingly doing it without stopping. It was a pro of him but also a con - Time to time Ari exaggerated and was that much into the work, that even a fly or a mosquito would haven’t distracted him. So no sleep, and essentially no eating, which worried the officers in the previous ship he worked on and put just a “good” and not an “excellent” in his service status.
“I need to get better and I have some defects. But I’m already on the way to solve them.”
Ari’s face wasn’t the one before entering the room - it was now serious and almost immovable.

“Good, in that case we are on the same page.” Mason shifted now and appeared to be about to return to his own work. “Once you have been cleared by both Medical and Counseling and the notification comes through, you will be cleared for Duty, Lieutenant. For now feel free to inspect your labs and get some rest, welcome to the Odin, Lieutenant Salemberger. You are dismissed.”

Ari’s eyes glanced and as he was told that he was dismissed, his smile came again shining in front of the XO
“Thanks, Sir. Lieutenant Salemberger dismissed.” And said so he made the salute.
For some moments he stepped in the bridge and gave a look to all the consoles and workstation: only a thing was passing in Ari’s mind, “what a beauty.”

As he explored enough the bridge, the next phase was actually exploring the rest. Dulcis in fundus, joked. And the turbolift’s doors closed.
