The attempt to isolate nanites from the tetrahedral ship was successful as was the attempt to transport them. The nanites were transported into a containment field that was keeping them in stasis.

The CSO came back to the Odin and immediately running diagnostics on the nanites and then cross-referencing all data with known Borg technology. As he commenced the tests, he tapped his comm badge. =/\= CSO to Commander Solark and Lieutenant Shrant. Please meet me in the Lab as soon as possible. =/\=

The diagnostics showed that the nanites were different from the nanites of the Borg. The nanites were designed to maintain the ship but they were not able to handle organic tissue. Thus they were not able to change any sentient being into a drone.

Ch’ethyniq scanned the nanites to see if they were trying to communicate to the alien vessel since they had been removed. He also began a metallurgical and electrical analysis to try and find out their power source and to see if they could be classified into separate groups by function or components.

Communication was detected among the nanites but the nanites were not able to send any message outside the Odin.

“At least there’s that.” he said to himself. Ch’ethyniq began to compare and contrast the nanites present in the lab to known nanite designs from the computer’s database.

The nanites were similar in design to the Borg with one major deficiency: they were not able to cause the chain reaction that would assimilate organic species with cybernetic parts. The nanites were programmed to maintain the systems of the ship. With the programs found in the nanites, it was possible to reconstruct the blueprints of the tetrahedral ship.

Ch’ethyniq stared in amazement for a moment and then tapped his commbadge =/\= Lab to Bridge. I have something to show the Command staff that may help the away team. I need someone to come take a look. =/\= and began to compile the schematics of the alien vessel.

Solark entered the science labs just as Ch’ethyniq was reporting to the bridge. “What have you discovered?” he asked.

“Commander, look at this.” and he brought up the scans of the nanites. “These are the samples I pulled from the vessel. They are similar to Borg technology, but have no effect on biological matter, so… no assimilation capability. I believe they are used to maintain and repair the vessel, Sir. So much so, that I have used them to compile a full schematic of the ship itself.” and he brought up the compilation of data that he had sorted and configured into a workable schematic. “Each one has the capability to not only maintain the vessel, but to communicate with each other. I have not detected any communication to the ship, however.”
